Illinois pot holes and road kill
As most of you are aware here in Illinois our Gov Rod has pulled the IDOT trucks off the road due to running over budget on snow plowing and not having enough funds to pay the current fuel bill. According to state records the IDOT spent $40 million over there budget this year. They have a bill on the floor in Springfield to give IDOT $20 million advance to be able to get the trucks and crew back on the road to start patching the pot holes.
While driving the R, I have had to dodge pot holes that I am sure would blow out a tire if hit or knock the alinement out on any car.
The other day was almost a for sure wreck. I was stuck behind a couple of truckers and when I pulled out to pass on the interstate in the left hand lane was 1/2 of a dead deer. Not sure where the other 1/2 was, but if I had not pulled back into the right hand lane, the R would be in the body shop getting a new front end.
On the way to work, about 10 miles, I counted 12 dead critters on the road in different stages of decay.
How are the roads and road kill in your area this spring?
