Iowa 91 Illinois 93

Need an answer to why Iowa Shell V Power is 91 octane and Illinois Shell V Power is 93 octane?

Iowa fuel was .15 cents a gallon cheaper which I always assumed was due to the different tax rates but maybe it also has to do with the octane rating also.

Any one know why?

I've always assumed the octane rating is lower in Iowa because air is cleaner thus EPA requirements aren't as stringent as many other states. Also believe state taxes on gasoline are lower than many other states although there is talk of that changing in the future as we look for ways to fund road improvements.

P.S. You not going to find many Shell stations in Iowa
