The Lansing Craft Center where your SSR's were assembled has been torn down...Only one building remained the other day when I went by and it was the one that used to have the big SSR banner on it. The ASC building is now being occupied by Demmer corp. making military vehicles.

Hi Julie
Last we heard the banner was bought by a dealership owner in Lansing
This thread has some of that info along with the e-mail you sent me the other day. I shared it with the fanatics as we knew they were destroying the building we just never could find out when it was going to happen. Lansing Craft Center Scheduled for Demolition
You might check with UAW locals in Lansing about Craft Center bricks, they may know how you can get one! (517-372-4626 Local 602) (517-372-7581 Local 652) (517-487-1753 Local 1753) Hope this helps!

Thanks I'll give it a try....won't hurt right Bob Walczyk was never able to give me a demolition date and he was the only contact I had after the LCC shut down.

LCC Brick Update
Ok we are on our way in trying to purchase bricks from the LCC.....
I have made a call to Local 602 and was transfered to Kathy after asking about bricks. Kathy said they have bricks from the Fisher Building that they are selling at $15.00 each. I told her we are interested in the LCC bricks only. She was unaware of how we could go about that but was very willing to help out and pass my tele number onto the right person.
She gave me the tele#'s to a security section of the Local that person was also willing to help get me to the proper contact.
I am now waiting for calls back If we are able to purchase them I will then start a separate thread.......I don't know about shipping these just yet
Fingers crossed that I have more info for you in the days to come
I could not find my post I have already made about this I guess it was over a year ago....anyway I contacted Bud Kouts Chevrolet in Lansing, MI and talked to the President of the company Mr. Dick Iding and he confirmed to me that he had purchased the SSR Banner that was displayed on the Craft Cenetr. It took him some time to finally take posession but he has it, in fact he told me at that time they had just cleared part of the back parking lot and lait it out and rolled it up. I talked with him for 20 min or so he also has a Redline SSR and several others in a barn? He also told me that he would gladly let us use the banner if needed ( don't know how we would transport or display it) But it has a home...........

I was in the tall section that Julie is talking about for the LCC tours that still remains as of today. I swear there were bricks in the staircase that were painted white. I pulled down a poster from one of the walls in the staircase.
I also remember other areas having bricks in them....but they maybe cinder blocks if that's the case splitting these into smaller ones is a good idea

What would you call people who want to buy a brick from an old building that their truck was built in. I think they are a bit of a Fanatic. We all do our part to help finance G.M. in business, one brick at a time.
