Arrow Lighthouse Tour 2010

Sorry guys..........

THIS TRIP IS POSPONED UNTIL I BOOP IT BACK UP AT ANOTHER TIME. I CAN'T MAKE IT AS MY SIDE BUSINESS IS CONSUMING A LOT OF MY TIME THESE DAYS INCLUDING WORKING SOME WEEKENDS...MY CLIENTS COME FIRST

THE SCHEDULE OF THIS TRIP WILL NOT CHANGE JUST THE TIME IN WHICH WE GO...(MAY HAVE TO WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR)

Update 6/6/10
Ok I pinned down hubby and made him work with me tonight (even though he only had one day at home)

Early planning stages but here is what we think will work best .....

October 8-9-10th (keep in mind we will be traveling Northern MI there is always a chance for snow ) ...I can't go any sooner due to the second grandchild coming. Fingers crossed we see no snow just gorgeous fall colors.
We will be taking 75 North to 23 (following the coastline) first Lighthouse Stop is # 23.....................

Out of Staters should arrive on Thursday (I will let you know where to get a room if you need it)

Friday Morning Early AM (time to be announced)

We will meet at a designated location (TBA)
These are the lighthouses we are planning on seeing Friday
On the MI Lighthouse Map (see attachment)
#23 Tawas Point Lighhouse
#22 Sturgeon Point Lighthouse & Museum
#20 New Presque Isle Lighthouse
#21 Old Presque Isle Lighthouse

#19 Forty Mile Point Lighthouse (this will be the point we will stop and get a hotel room for the night (TBA)

Saturday
#19 Forty Mile Point Lighthouse (if not completed on Friday)
# 18 Old Mackinac Point Lighhouse
#17 Point Iroquois Lighthouse & Museum
#16 Whitefish Point Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum , Bed & Breakfast

(If time allows we will be seeing Tahquamenon Falls)

#16 If I can get us in we will be staying at the Bed & Breakfast if not I will find an alternative

Sunday is travel home for those who need to (like me) for those that don't and the weather is good stay...its beautiful up that way

More info will follow after I lock in hotel information

Michigan lighthouses are stars of the shore, beacons of brilliance and luminaries of lore. More than 115 Great Lakes lighthouses form a stellar constellation along the Michigan coastline, guiding sailors and capturing imaginations. Some still shine for ships. Others share their stories with us first-hand as museums. As bed and breakfasts and as Michigan history in the making. So let Michigan lighthouses light our way. Because their gleaming legacy guides us to Pure Michigan.

Won't push it any later then late Sept into early October it can get very cold by the Great Lakes

BTW....this is open to not just Great Lakes Fanatics but anyone whom wishes to attend. I think most of the runs for this year are over around this time I know we have many on the board for this year

We have so much to see and do right here in our own backyard!

Looks like we've stirred up enough to get it in the works and put a date with it. Steve is coming along for this one...he and I have always been fascinated by MI Lighthouses and have visited several over the years.

I should have the map after I return from Maggie Valley and will begin to make calls to be sure our time will co-ordinate with the lighthouse open times......

More to come I think this will be a great trip with beautiful photos too happy to see we have enough interest!!

Sounds like a GREAT idea! Pat LOVES light houses. We saw two of them over the weekend when we went to Holland (MI). Keep us informed!

Lake Michigan Lighthouses

I've visited quite a few of the light houses on Lake Michigan. One thing that you might think of since a large number of the light houses on your map go around the northern part of the lake. Would be to circle the top half and than take the ferry across the lake from Manitowock,Wi. to Ludington,Mi.

I have to seek out hubby for planning this one (talked with him tonight about it). His time at home is short these days but he said he will try and sit with me this weekend. He's better able to map out the distance for me in between the lighthouses. I want to cover a lot of ground in one weekend but I don't want to wear us out

Hoping to have at least part of it ready soon

We were there in 05 on the Harleys. Your right, it's worth seeing

That is one long run up the east coast to Whitefish Point.
