Time is getting short for an open top tour of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. So, Elizabeth and I have decided to head north and all SSR owners are invited to join us.
The trip will explore the scenic fall beauty along the northern U.P. coastline viewing over a dozen lighhouses, Whitefish Point (Lighthouse and Museum) Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks, Copper Harbor (which includes Brockway Mt) as well as Escanaba in da moonlight
The dates for this spectacular are a meet and greet dinner at BJ's Restaurant, 990 N Center Ave, Gaylord, MI on Fri Sept 24th at 6:00PM, ending with a goodbye lunch at Gobbler's Restaurant, 900 S Otsego Ave, Gaylord, Michigan at noon on Tuesday, September 28th.
BTW, we've scheduled the overnight stops to allow those who cannot do the entire trip to either join or leave us a their convenience. Friday night of course will be in Gaylord, Saturday night in Paradise, Sunday night in Houghton, Monday night in Escanaba, and the final stop will be back in Gaylord for lunch on Tuesday.
Please let us know (via posting on this thread) if you are planning on joining us on this trip.

OK, so far we have the following signed up and motels booked for this run:
Sorry.. we wont be able to make this one. It runs into my class reunion weekend (I wish I still had the same horse & buggy).
But I can tell anyone interested in going that you will have a good time with Glen & Elizabeth, excellent guides, beautiful area.
In fact they took us pretty much this same route into the UP a couple years ago, after the run that Marv & Judy had. So can highly recommend.
Sorry to miss our MI friends and a good time!
Sept. 24 dental appointment, 25th "dirt track shoot out" the Americans invade us to try and win our money at Saturday racenight (Latemodel).
Would have loved to come over for your run.

I'll be thinking of you all when I do my solo Oregon/Northern California lighthouse run - ON THE SAME WEEKEND!
I'll be doing a "Covered Bridges" tour (Cottage Grove area) in the morning and then the Lighthouses in the afternoon!
Umpqua River Lighthouse
Cape Arago
Coquille River
Cape Blanco
Pelican Bay
For a number of years, "Cleft of the Rock" was the only official private lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. That all changed when Bill Cady decided to have a lighthouse added onto his current home in 1990. Then in 1997, Mr. Cady moved the home to its current location, perched on the corner of a 100 foot cliff above the Pacific Ocean. This octagonal tower is 141 feet above the ocean and can be seen from as far as eleven miles away.
Sorry 'bout the hijack...
After receiving approval from the federal government, this house was lit for the first time at 11:03 pm on July 4th, 1999. The lamp is a fixed acrylic Fresnel lens. It turns on at dusk and off at dawn.
If you would like to see this lighthouse, simply visit Brookings Harbor. No more instructions are needed, and you shouldn't have any problem finding it! We will also remind you that this is a private lighthouse, and the privacy of its owner should be respected.

Lighthouse tour
Mary called me today about staying with them on our way to the Finger Lakes Tour. We talked about the Lighthouse Tour the following weekend. So guess what, I made reservations and we will join you for this tour. We decided we may never get up this way again and are going to try to make the best of it.
Hope you don't have any hail because we are bringing Dee's Aqua Blur. Don't think my insurance would like two hail claims in one year.
