Milan, Michigan - Dragstrip Trip
October 24th, weather permitting, I plan to head to Milan Dragway to try my R for the first time. They have time runs or grudge races from 11 am until 5 pm. I also have some buddies going that have enclosed trailers on site, in case we need to haul someone home due to breakage. Anyone else interested?

We"ll see if I have hit my goal of 12 20s. That's not 12.20 seconds, but a 12 second time slip while getting 20 miles per gallon on the way there. Man, it's been a bunch of years since my last pass though.
I can't make any promises, but I'll TRY to make it.
I haven't been to Milan Dragway since I took my brand new 1977 Smokie & the Bandit Trans Am there for a run. Took the only trophy I've ever won, but it was a buy run because I was the only one in my class.

Hey, that's great Charlie if you can make it!! The track has changed some, with new towers and a better racing surface. About the same old pits and bathrooms though. I've got a good friend in Belleville, Dick Zimmer. He used to own a great gas station right at 5 points in Belleville. I met him sand dragging and we've been good friends since. He's now retired and lives on Haggerty Rd. on a beautiful 33 acre lot right where the river goes over the dam. He just lost his second Dodge Daytona in a roll over at Milan about a month ago. Two days ago he replaced it with, what appears to be a nicely restored 69 Dart Swinger 349 6 pack. I'm hoping to talk him into bringing it out also. Another friend, that I've built AMC engines for for 25 yrs, just broke in the 7s with his home built Gremlin. He'll be there, as there's a number of AMCs coming out that day.
Hope to see you,
Ken

Thanks for the x'd fingers Rebel. Same goes for you as 32 Revolver - the rubber won't show on your Cherry ride!!? If it doesn't happen this weekend I'll try again in the spring and let you know - maybe you could swing over for the day?
I have been off work for three weeks with cold.
I get to go back to work thursday, doc today gave me a note to return.
I will try and run this 87 octain out.
I have not run it since the Osarks, and I have installed new gear and tuner since then.
I Hope not to see anymore 15's

Rebel, you might not have posted any great times but looks like you killed somebody on the tree!
Wildcat, have you had yours down the track yet? If so what did it run?

Abadssr, I'll try, but catching good and consistent lights in a stickshift with street tires and no linelock is impossible. That's my excuse and I'm stickin to it!
HRG, another Redwing red R out there would be fun and confuse the poor guy in the tower to death!
Hey Waysouth, I'll certainly catch a Stang or two just for you! Dearborn MI is home of Ford Motor and they're like flies around here.
In reality it's looking like the weather is NOT going to cooperate this Sat.

Ken,
I won't be able to make it. Only time for one fun thing this weekend & looks like the weather for Sunday's run will be better.

Yep Charlie, Saturday is a wash. All my AMC buddies bailed ( notice all the aquatic terms here ) and are going out Sunday, but I won't be able to join them then. Might not make it until spring now. Have some cider and especially a doughnut for me Sunday!

Come along on the cider run. It will be fun (even if you do only have a red SSR).

Hey Wildcat, you did great at the track! Looks like you got better as the day went on. Your last 3 runs were all within a 10th and that's great consistency! You'd be a killer bracket racer, where you run handicapped based on your own dial in.
