Hi,
I say welcome aboard to the forum, twas just six months ago I got a similar welcome.
Grew up in Palatine and now our primary residence is in Florida. We sold a truck and a convertible with the idea of replacing it with one vehicle. When I got home the dealer directed me to this web site and gave me my log in information and sign in name so I just started looking around.
What a wonderful thing happened to me. As our Florida guru, Dicktator says, you joined a family and he is spot on. We went to our first event two weeks after buying the SSR at Fantasy of Flight not 20 miles from our home and we were hooked. What a wonderful group of folks and such fun. Just completed the weekend in Kissimmee, FL and would suggest you check into the forums and then Florida and you can see for yourself. We did have several folks from IL and IN attending. You will enjoy the many pictures and comments.
Forgot to also mention that they had already schedule one "tech day" where several volunteers worked on my vehicle installing frame stiffeners, led turn signal mirrors and much more. I have since volunteered where I could as well.
And finally, to top it off, my wife had a BMW hard top convertible that is four years old and had just rolled 16,000 miles on it. She drove the SSR for an hour then her BMW and pronounced the SSR sits higher, drives better and is a lot more fun to drive, I want one. I asked her if she was willing to give up the BMW and she said if we could trade pretty close to even, absolutely.
She now owns a 2006, black SSR that just rolled over 10,000 miles. Pin stripes go on Wednesday, SS accessories on Thursday and Friday we have another tech day scheduled where we install frame stiffener, radiator support, turn signals, moleskin so the window tint does not get scratched and a "kill switch" so we can cut off the battery for extended periods of time when not in use. Her vehicle will make it to our summer home in IL because we both knew that we just could not go that long without missing the most fun vehicle we have ever driven.
We have already met several midwestern owners and hope you will join in the fun. Our lives have changed a good bit in the last six months. As we told our neighbor when we got home from Kissimmee last night, we had an absolutely wonderful weekend with many new frieds, it was a blast.
Looking forward to meeting up with you in Windy.
regards,
Dennis Miller
