Winter 2012 in Florida!

Its that time of year again for us Snowbirds to start planning/packing for our journey south.

I know Mike in Orlando is getting ready to post info on his 4th Annual SSR Rally in March! So watch for Mike's Rally thread.
So if you so desire this is the place to post your destination or where abouts for 2012 in Florida. Also any other SSR activites planned during Jan. 2012 and Feb. 2012 by the Florida Chapter could be posted here also!

We plan to be in Madiera Beach, FL mid-Jan. to mid-Feb 2012.
We will drive the HHR because of chance of driving in snow on the way down & back.
SSR has summer tires that slip & slide too much in snow.

I will be in Delray Beach from Jan thru Mar and will be driving my SSR down to enjoy the sunshine. Hoping to hook up with other SSR's for some fun. I will keep an eye on the sight for any happenings.

Karen and I just made reservations at a RV park in Ruskin for the month of January. Then we are heading over to Lake Placid for the month of February.
We had a blast with all the SSR Fanatics we hooked up with last year in Florida!

scott i know us canadians have trouble with usa geography - we think windsor, ontario, canada is south of detroit, mi

but the last time i checked lake placid was in new york state ??
I know new york is south of us but i ddn't think it was that far south (think snow !!!)

Cam, beleave it or not there is a Lake Placid, Florida. Check your Florida map. Just south of Sebring.

Leaving Canada for Ocala Fl. between Nov.7 & 15 unless they call for snow sooner. We stay for 6 months and drive our SSR down and back.

This thread is depressing. All of you heading to Florida and missing the beautiful snow falls that are predicted for this long and cold winter.

To you lucky snowbirds that are in Florida already, we had 3 to 4 inches of snow late yesterday! And the weatherman said there would be no accumulation.

Same here!

We had barely enough to cover the ground and it's all gone now.
That was just a little indication of things to come.

I'm waiting on one more opportunity to chop and blow some leaves back into the woods and then the mower is going into storage and the batter from it goes to the tractor w/blade.
New snowblower that I want is going on sale on the 25th and I'll then be ready (but not anxious) for the white stuff.
