Chevy Mall

I contacted Chevy Mall - they advised me that they will be sending some goodies again this year to include in the raffle...

I'm also contacting some local dealerships to see what product they can offer. I also have BBQ a$$istance coming from a local dealer...

Just a reminder - you will want to bring a FMS radio to communicate while we are on the GENERALS RUN.

Woot HAD a special today - and I just bought 3 pairs - looks like I'l have a few extras to share....

Keith,

I noticed on my Motorola FRS/GMRS radios (Model T5000) after the Laughlin run that have two power output levels. Channels 1-7 and 15-22 are 1 watt output and channels 8-14 are 0.5 watt.

Are these compatible with the FRS rados you use?

What is your channel preference? Channels 1-7 and 15-22 , I hope.

Mike

Yes - the FRS channels are compatable - just be careful with the GMRS - you do need a FCC license - and fines can be UGLY...

Channel 7 would be fine...

Cool Snowing in the desert today . . . . .

Hauled my little SSR butt out of the high desert today in a hurry as it started snowing like crazy and I wanted to get through the Escondido pass (3250 ft) before it closed the 14 freeway.

Sure hope this is the last attempt at winter here.

I'll bet the mountains above Kingsburg are getting pasted right now. Hope there is snow there when we roll thru (alongside the road, of course).

Light flurries outside right now - nothing is sticking here. Looks like 2 or 3 feet of snow expected above 5000 foot level. I'll try to get a couple pics tomorrow...

New Sat. Night Dinner plans

Looks like Cattlemens will NOT be able to serve us dinner - the room has been booked for awhile.

I did talk to the propieter of Los Pepe's - an established Mexican Resturant in Kingsburg. He is more than willing to set us up with a buffet dinner - depending on the entree's we are looking at $12.00 to $15.00 per.

Dinner would have to be at about 5pm. That is still enough time to freshen up after the car show - and sit down and eat.

What do you all think of this??? Any special requests for the buffet? They have GREAT Chili Verde - the fajitas are good too (thats what I had tonight!). He mentioned bacon wrapped shrimp too. Please let me know of special needs or requests.

Kingsburg also has a SONIC that just opened TODAY. I'm thinking after dinner - we could converge on Sonic and have dessert???? What do you all think? (I'd like to see the managers face when we all stop in!!!)

If we want a Steakhouse dinner- we would have to travel 15 to 25 miles to find a place large enough to hold us all... Feedback PLEASE...

Los Pepes sounds OK to us. Fajitas and Chili Verde sounds good. I like the Sonic idea. We invaded a Sonic in Laughlin with about 30 SSRs and filled the place up. Had a great time. The manager invited us back next year and with advance notice said he would rope off the parking places for us and give a discount on the food.

Exactly my thoughts. Everything about it sounds great, Keith. Love Mexican food and to echo Lloyd's thoughts, the sonic idea is also great. If we do this often enough, maybe Sonic will name the SSR as the official vehicle of their driveups ! !

I should have a very very cool item to add to the raffle pool. It will be one of three produced.

A portion of the raffle proceeds will be donated to the Kingsburg PD K9 Squad - they are down to one active team and have sent out a request for assistance thru the Chamber of Commerce. If time permits - I will try to get them to stop by the Historical Park on Friday evening to say hello and perhaps a bit of a demonstration...

Horray - Its the first day of SPRING!!!

I was going thru the posts and making a spreadsheet - and I discovered another SSR that's coming. KWIK04SSR stated that Duayne & Barbara out of San Jose are coming too!!!

We are up to 41 now!!!

I will be at the Historic park starting at about NOON - the food vendors will be setting up shortly after that and will serve food up to 6:30 or so...

Dinner will be at Los Pepe's - I will finalize the buffet in the next week or two - so if there are any food preferences let me know! I will also recontact the folks that will be be making our picnic box for Sunday pick-up - (we each pay for that) , so if there are any preferences for that let me know too - I figure I'll stick to turkey and ham - if you want a different selection - let me know and I'll see if they can have that as an opton too!

Chevy Mall...

Just wanted to spread the news that Chevy Mall sent us some goodies to add to the raffle!!!

Car Show comittee meeting tonight - unless things change - we will be displaying in the same spot as last year - BUT with MORE room.

The fire station is being renovated, so we will be able to line up in front of the building too, both sides of the street should be available too!!!

For those arriving on Saturday - it is just West of the Coffee pot water Tower!

Sorry to say we have a change of plan..... We won't be bringing our SSR to Kingsburg. I have just finished the restoration of my '72 El Camino SS and will drive it up instead. Now I have two red trucks. This will be a long check out run with the new rod. I'll drop by and say hi on Saturday during the show. Duane & Julie
