Going after it . . . . .
Way to go Lizz & John . . . . welcome to the party. We are definitely in a position to break the record now ! !
Based on all the snow on the local mountains here now, after Tuesday's storm, I'll bet there is tons of new snow above Kingsburg. Snow, the only thing I miss about my childhood state, Iowa.

QUAD State gathering - GREAT!!!!
Well, the local paper stated the snowpack is very high in water content - snow depth is about the same as last year - which was a heavy year too.
(Speaking of the local paper - it seems that we are getting some press regarding our gathering - I was called by a reporter and spent about an hour on the phone w/ her - the Fresno Bee is sending a photographer out tomorrow after work - so I will find out more about the story then.)
I can't believe the rain the valley has rec'd so far this MONTH - at least it's warmer and the snow level is back up (not down to the valley floor)...
We will still see snow in Giant Forest - here's an image from the Sequoia - Giant Forest Cam:
Looks like there will be an article in the Fresno Bee newspaper (photographer took some shots last Friday) - On Friday April 7th - regarding this gathering. I'm hoping this kicks some local owners into gear!!!
We can still break the West Coast record!!! (At least until next July!)

Two Weeks away!
Ok - we're two weeks away!
We've had LOTS of rain (for the valley) for the past 6-8 weeks.
I haven't had my SSR out too much - the 10 day forecast calls for more rain tonight - and a bit more thru the week - BUT - the monday leading into the Car Show weekend has a high of 71 - so things are looking better.
I will have more info on the Sat night dinner - and the menu for the Sunday Picnic lunch boxes - next week... (I'm going to try to see if I can just have you all stop in the sandwich shop on Fri or Sat to place and pay for Sundays picnic - that way we only have to pick it up and go on Sunday Morning.
IN THE EVENT THAT THE GENERALS HIGHWAY is too icy or snowy, I do have alternate plans that we can use, so we will still have a drive day on Sunday!
Keep a lookout for PM's from me - I may need to give some specific #'s to the food folks, but I think my slightly over estimates will do just fine!
BTW: it looks pretty nice up the hill this morning:
(I will most likely do another "scout run" up the hill next weekend!)

Thanks again Keith, for all of your planning. I have about fifty SSR-Club logo window stickers and small magnetic Kingsburg event car plaques for everyone.

What else do we need?
Thks., Steve & Judy
I think we are ready to roll...
Arranged for some registration and eating tables for Friday at the Historical Park - just sent the deposit for the BBQ folks (Horsepower cafe) - so Friday is pretty much done (I have to make my "signature" Generals Highway Poquito Bean chili next week!) I'll supply the standard sodas/water - so If you want anything different - you may want to pick it up!
(If a mobil detailer/cleaner does not happen - I will have a 'self-serve' area at the park - And there are a couple 'quarter' washes in town. And a hand wash in Selma)
Saturday is set too. I'd like to get as many SSR's in place by 7:30 or 8:00am.
Car Show during the day and dinner at Los Pepe's at 5pm... (FYI: I have not mentioned that there is a pancake sale at the Senior Center on Saturday morning if you all want to try that - it is walking distance from downtown!)
Sunday lunches - I spoke to Diane - at Diane's Village Bakery Cafe - and she will take orders on Friday and Saturday. We will be able to pay in advance - so getting on the road will be easier. Leave Kingsburg at 8:30 - sharp!

Yes - the schedule on the 1st post is valid - I will edit that page with any updates...
The only real addition - is that I'd like as many SSR's in the display area by 8am - the earlier we set up - the better chance we will have all the SSR's together.
IF the weather gets as nice as it sounds like it will, the actual car show entry vehicles will swell - there are appx 150 pre-registered vehicles now - we average 300, but with nice weather, we may see up to 400 or 450 entries...
Bring folding chairs if you have them!!!
FMS radios too - I will have 3 spares and will also have two pair to add to the raffle!
Temps should be in the 60's - 70's in Kingsburg on Saturday - some weather models show temps into the 80's for the weekend...
Just looked at the 10 day forecast and I think the weatherman is smoking something. Rain??
Whatever - I going as long as it's not hail, sleet, freezing rain, or snow.

Hey - don't give away Sundays secret!
20% is all they are calling for. But, not too sure if the Generals Highway will be open. Snowpack is 175% this year, and as of Friday - it was not open all the way to Kings Canyon. Going up 198 - you can get to Giant Forest & the Lodge.
But don't worry - Plan "B" is just as interesting. At the end of Hwy 201, we may go North on Hwy 245 - thru the towns of Badger and Pinehurst. This comes out on Hwy 180 a few miles from the Kings Canyon entrance. We could go into the Park there and see Big Trees at the Big Stump picnic area (and have a picnic) - then drive a couple more miles to the General Grant Tree... (I may have to do a scout run tomorrow!)
These pics are from last years 'scout' run & car show...
Any last minute suggestions for lodging? I was hoping to keep the loding costs under $100 per night, but all I can find is $121.50 per night in Dinuba.

It's just going to me on this trip. My wife has other things going on that weekend. We're finishing a very difficult software release cycle at work and this was my "present to myself" for getting that completed (at least on Wednesday it will be completed).
So the only name info is:
Robert Baller
aka shiftz33
I can almost bet nobody will get the last name pronounced correctly..... my life's curse...

I'll try, Robert. BALL (like in ballet) ER (like in fur)
It could be worse, Robert . . . much worse. In my home town, when I was a kid (many decades ago) the local veterinarian named DR. BALZ, had a son and named him HARRY. Swear to God. What were they thinking ? ? ?
Since you drive a Chevy, how about; Ball (as in Bell) and er (as in air)?

Is anyone at all concerned about the extended forecast for next Fri - Sat - Sun.
Yahoo shows rain all three days. Inellicast shows rain all three days. Weather.com says the same thing. 3 out of 5, is a pretty good bet that we'd be standing outside in the rain for a wet car show on Sat.

And still a bit chilly out to do that! I am considering not going at this point as some other things have come up, none more important than the SSR will probably be in the shop for its driver door handle...will know more by Tuesday...I hope.

Took my Chevy dealer almost 6 weeks to get my inside door handle ! !
