Well, WearyEagle seems to know how to pronounce my last name just fine!

It looks like I'll be traveling down from the Stockton area with one or two other SSRs on Friday.

Can't wait!

I need to know if John (ABADSSR) and Warren (Blue2006) are bringing anyone with them. Need the names of co-pilots and their relationship, if any, for name tags.

Thanks.....................Lloyd (lloger)

Wink Sunday Night ???

Those that are staying over Sunday night and for Keith and all of his hard work put into this weekend, I have put a little something together???
How about an evening cruise up to Fresno to the Claim Jumper Restaurant and see how many comps we can get from my son Ryan who is the G.M. Its about time he pays me back a little for raising him...
Think it over I just need a head count by late Saturday so I can let Ryan know how many of us are going, that way we can walk right in and sit right down no waiting!!!
We can just relax and refect on our weekend in Kingsburg...

this weekend

Tony

It sounds like fun, but Debbie and I are headed for the Coast on Sunday nite.

If any of the group is interested in joining us, we're staying at the Shoreline Inn in Cayucos ($95) and goint to Hearst Castle on Monday after breakfast. Monday nite will be in Solvang and then home on Tuesday.

Later,

Mike

Great Idea!

Thanks Tony!

With the intro to Ryan, I'm sure I'll never have a problem getting into Claim Jumper! Sounds like a great way to 'debrief' after the weekend...

Had the final Car Show committee meeting tonight - everything looks A-OK. 160 pre-registered entries - so 320+ entries total is expected.

With the last 72 weekends having some sort of rain - and the first 80 degree day of the year scheduled for tomorrow - folks are ready to break outta the 'cabin fever' mode around here!!!

There may be a need for volunteers to help place car entries fairly early Saturday morning - if anybody is interested. The EARLIER we can get our SSR's parked the better. My HHR is available as a shuttle for breakfasts - or there are places within walking distance to eat.

We've been asked (ok I volunteered us!) to judge about 15 awards. These are special awards (best interior - etc) not the 1st 2nd 3rd per class award. So, this gives you all input to the show!

Don't forget - we will all need to stop in at Dianes bakery and pre-order Sunday's picnic lunch. Saturday during the car show would be a good time.

I have NOT been able to secure a mobile wash for Friday. There are hand washes and self serve places nearby. I will have a self serve area set up at the Historical Park with some supplies...

As of today the Generals Highway is still closed. We will be operating on Plan 'B' this weekend - the snowpack is too much this year! The Highway 245 drive will be just as fun! (This months offical SSR calendar pic was taken on Hwy 245 - close to the Kings Canyon entrance.) 35 years ago my grandparents ran a Bar & Grill called Loggers Point in Pinehurst. Part of the foundation is all that remains - we will most likely take a break near there. The Pinehurst Lodge has restrooms.
Hwy 245 ends at Hwy 180 - just a couple miles from the Park entrance. To see big trees, we can enter there. Just a couple more miles past the entrance in a picnic area - just in time for lunch! The General Grant tree is a bit farther, not sure the side road to the parking area will be open unless you have chains or snow tires... There are some Giant Sequoias at the picnic area & at the visitor center. There is a trail from the visitor center to the Gen. Grant - for those that want to hike...

Last chance for name tags. I still need a clarification on the following:

John, is your username (1badssr) or (ABADSSR) ?
Boomerick, is your first name Rick?
John & Loretta (KWIK04SSR). Do you have name tags?

The Generals Is Open!

Just called the road conditions report for Sequoia/Kings Canyon - The Generals Highway is OPEN - but with Ice and Snow Warnings (like last year).

I may have jumped the gun going to Plan 'B' - I'll keep checking the road report - and we can make a decision on Saturday...
