californias on fire again

this time in the santa cruz mountains heading south towards corriltas direction the smoke should be at arts(hdflstff) house some time tonight the news said. so far 1,000+ acres and gthe wind is blowing good at my house so it must be real bad in the fire area with its own generated wind.for those that know the area summit rd near 17 is closed and are alot of the roads on the south side of the summit area . smoke slowed traffic on 101 this morning (looky looes). the cdf will be making a large camp . possibley at christmas tree park (gilroy area). thats where they did the last camp for the fire last year . if not there then the news said watsonville fairgrounds. so far no people hurt but they have lost houses and mobile homes. they have also been able to save soom the nws said.. I dont know any of us fanactics that live in the way of this fire as of yet . but will keep the local news updates going so you guys dont lose the good stuff in the national spotlite. right now people are evauating and getting the animals out . lots of horse lovers in them thar hills the local spca reports they are coming to them. also lots of dogs and small farm animals

I could smell smoke this morning when leaving for work in the high desert...couldn't see any smoke but the smell often comes this way - or my neighbors fired up the old wood burner during the night since the temp dropped down to a low 45 I had to put the blankies back on the bed

Wow! That has to be scary! We had some fires around here a couple of years ago. We had a drought and it didn't take much to start a fire. We'll be keeping you all in our prayers.

Probably only a few flurries mixed in with the rain but it did drop below freezing last night - record low in Big Bear for May is 18 (1967)

My co-worker just walked in - her exact words "you won't believe it but it snowed in Big Bear this morning"...

Thank you for the updates. We're thinking about you all. Prayers going up for the safety of the fire crews, and the residents who are sure to be affected by the fires.

This just in.On the news.

Pictures of the results of a TORNADO or several in Riverside County. A big rig knocked over and 6 railroad cars derailed in the middle of a freight train. The tower at March Air Reserve Base evacuated due to rough weather.

When I came home from work, things didn't look right in the driveway as it was wet so I thought maybe my water heater burst.
That wasn't the case and we discovered that it rain real hard for a short period of time and it looks like it only effected three or four homes on my street.
I sure don't see any rain clouds.

You must not be looking toward HB - we got rained on pretty good right after the SSR went back into the garage.

Unhappy US Tahoe Forest FIRE UPDATE

Tahoe Forest largest fires currently rated as #1 & #2 priority accross the entire 48 states. #1 Butte County (North of Placer County) with 11,000 residents evaculated. Placer County where we live is #2 priority, no one evaculated as fire is 12 miles above Foresthill where 2 fires have joined and consumed around 10,000 acreas. Breathing smoke is becoming standard especially this week. Hoping for weather to improve so aerial drops can resume. Papa Walker

Jun 17th - Firefighters on schedule to have fires contained in our area this coming month. Our skies are clear at this point so hope to drive Dream Rod this weekend.
