When i arrived at the Rose Bowl I was looking to see if anyone had taken me up on the invitation. I saw an unfamiliar

with a flamed front end roll in topless. I walked over like I knew them and asked if they were fanatics and got a strange look so I rephrased it as SSR Fanatics to which the response was a chuckle and I guess so. I handed them my card and we chatted for a while. It is an '05, they shared their names with me but I promptly forgot them. I invited them to come up on the site and introduce themselves. In our discussion they seemed interested in going to Colorado Springs so hopefully they will make a visit here and get the ball rolling. (no pictures or VIN, too busy talking).
To kick things off in the Bowl we had a demonstration by the San Marino High School Drum Line, a beautiful rendition of God Bless America, inclluding the first verse, by a young lady with a beautiful voice. Then we had the 42nd Pipe & Drum Corps which surprised me. In the Rose Bowl without amplification the bagpipes get lost, but you could hear the muted base drum. Next was scheduled to be Ernest Borgnine, but a 93 his health took precedence so Billy Ray Cyrus stood in for him and sang "Some Gave All". Dean Torrance of Jan & Dean was introduced along with the oldest veteran there who is 103 years old.
The Marines were fantastic as usual. A great two hour show started with a flyover by three harriers from the Black Sheep Squadron (VMA214) from Tuscon.
