Sunday Night in Solvang

Last year, Mike in AZ suggested staying at the Wine Valley Inn in Solvang on Sunday after cruising down the coast. It was lovely last year… but even better… This fall they went thru a renovation updating the rooms. Solvang is such a cool little Danish town. It really made for a nice end to the weekend… as well as an easier drive home!

So, with Mike’s blessing… I have gone ahead and reserved a block of 15 rooms for us.

The rooms range from...
$89 for a Standard room
$109 for a Village King or Queen room
$129 for a Jr. Suite.
(There are also cottages available at $269+)
Breakfast is included in the price of the room.

They are first come, first serve and are available only till Midnight on FEBRUARY 19TH, 2008. After that the unassigned rooms will revert back to the Inn for sale to the general public.

The hardest part last year was finding a place to eat dinner. So here’s a link to the local faire… Solvang California - Dining I think we should keep dinner as an un-organized event … that way everyone can find the food & experience they will enjoy.

I just made reservations for April 20 & 21st for Deb and I. We got there so late on Sunday last year and had to leave for home the next morning, that we didn't get a chance to look around.

Just made reservation for Solvang. Wanted to do this last year but I needed to head on home. Glad that I will get the chance to do it this time.

thank you Lt. we will make reservation on the wine valley Inn it was so lovely last year and the drive home was unbelieaveble beautifull, with the musik playing what a wonderfull woerld, it was bringing tears to my eyes, we are looking forward to se you gyes there, sorry if my spelling is wrong but dooing 6 languedes are making my old brain confused in between, cant help it I am the only one of us that dare to hit the buttons on the keyboard, love to all Grethe

As a group, I think we should all gather at Paula's Pancake House for breakfast as they have some good size tables on the patio outside for a large group.

wish we could have gone last year but had to get back to the classroom and those dang kids...same thing again this year, don't even think we will make Kingsburg unless I call in sick again

Just a quick note to let you guys know that Debbie and I will not be joining you for Kingsburg or Solvang this year. We're planning a number of trips..... some with the SSR family

and some for just the two of us.

Yahooooo (my version of Bump!) Come join us in Solvang... its a great town with lots of shopping, great restaurants, historical Santa Ines Mission and lovely wine country all around.

For those wanting to do a wine tour:

The Firestone Winery (from the show the Bachelor/tires) has the best rated tours in the area. Let's meet in front of the Wine Valley Inn about 12:30. That should give us time to drive over just in case someone makes a wrong turn (I didn't mention your name Doug). The tour starts at 1:15 lasts 20-30 minutes and then you get the wine tasting. The cost is $15 per person which includes the tour, tasting, and a Firestone glass. Anyone wanting to join us please let me know.
