Talking NHRA Races

Is any body interested in attending the NHRA Auto Club Finals on Sunday the 15th of November? I purchased my tickets this morning and wondered if any body else was going, may be we could meet up at the event.

I'm with you PP, only it's 2500 miles for me. Both Top Fuel and Funny Car are very close going into today's race.

Don't know if anyone here follows IHRA, but there are radical changes for them next year. All the Pro classes, as we know them today, are gone! Pro Stock and Pro Mod are entirely gone with just 4 car exhibition type classes in Top Fuel, Alky Funny Car, and A Fuel Dragster. They are cutting all prize money drastically and reducing spectator fees to try to get attendance back. The poor economy has really impacted motorsports!

Talking Drawing at the races!!!

You are not going to believe what happened at the races Sunday. At the NHRA hospitality tent they have a drawing for one luck member and a geust to go to the starting line for the first run of the top fuel cars of that event. This also includes back stage pass to get autographs and meet and greeet to all the professional drivers and their staff. This also includes Top Eliminator Club reserved seats and meals for the event. They will also give a 2 page spread in the National Dragster News magazine with pictures the winner takes during the day.
I WON
If any body has been to the drags and heard a Top Fuel car run down the track you know sound is unbelievable. It is ten times as loud and practically blows you off your feet when both cars launch at the same time.
They said they would send a copy of the pictures that I took durring the day and I will post them when I get them.
It was very cool, I still am jazzed about it.

Congratulation Dan.
I bet your ears are still buzzing as I know mine were years ago after spending a day at Pomona.

Autodan, I didn't know NHRA did that. What a cool thing to do! I know they once had a seismometer on the starting line and two fuel cars rang up a 2.8 on the Richter scale at launch. How about Chris "The Greek" Karamensines at 81 years old qualifying and competing in Top Fuel?!! What drivers did you get to talk to?

Red face National dragster

Just received the latest copy of National Dragster. Check out page 55, first time for me in a national publication.
