In Reno
Tracie and I will be in Reno on the 3rd of June picking up another car, and was wondering if there were any Fanatics there, that would like to meet up for a lunch meeting? Unfortunately we will only be there for a few hours, as we have to be at the border Monday morning (exporting car). If anyone would like to meet up, let us know, we would love to meet some more Fanatics !!!
Hi Rob and Tracie.......what kind of car are you picking up? More toys for the boy?????? Enjoy your short time in Reno and maybe you can "double your money" at the tables.
Gerry.........Bondo Princess
Hello Rod,
I live in Reno and would enjoy meeting you for lunch on June 3. There are at least two other local SSRs but I may be the only fanatic member here.

Gerry: we bought a 78 pace car corvette, they are here, but never come up for sale it seems, this one is heavily modified!
sosoeddie: we would love to meet up with you, we arrive in Reno on the 3rd at 11am, the vette will be meeting us at the airport, now I'm not sure if we are lunching with them as well, but if we do, we will still meet up with you! Just let us know what works for you.
Yellow bear : hell bent for da border for sure, funny thing Tracie rarly drive, maybe it is all my screaming! lol
LT : thanks, we miss all our SoCal friends !!!!
But .... We love making new friends everywhere we go!!
Rob,
Sorry I called you Rod. Guess I had ROD on my mind since my SSR vanity plate is NASAROD. Congrats on purchase of the '78 Pace Car Corvette. I once owned a '58 Corvette - one of the first fuel injected engines, nicknamed the "Firebird" for obvious reasons. Wish I had it now. Loved the look of this beautiful car, but it was very uncomfortable. I was too tall to see out of the windshield with the top up, one of the top bows was rubbing a bald spot on my head, and rough pavement was giving me a concussion!
Sally and I would like to have lunch with you and Tracie and your Reno Corvette friends. Let us know time and place.

A 58 vette? That must have been a cool car! This is our first corvette, it has been a compromise, Tracie wanted a stingray and I like the newer vettes, but I have always like the 78 pace cars, so this one is heavily modified with a 2001 Z06 drivetrain, it the rest of the car has been upgraded as well, and only 12,000 miles on the clock, and those are verified miles too .... Gotta like that! Now as far as a meeting place, I'm not sure where, as we have only been through Reno once, and they are meeting us at the airport with the car, but his wife works at the hospital near by. Pm me your number and we will call you too arrange something when we land, man am I excited !!!!! Lol
Guess I will have to upgrade my fanatic status so I can post pictures lol

I'm with you on this one, Rob . . . besides, what's the rush?
When I adopted The Doophus, it took me FOUR PLUS DAYS to bring the little yellow bugger home from Illinois (1600 miles).
Not due to an accident but my bony butt starts to ache after about an hour or so sitting in the same spot.

Ok ... So 3:30 am and very little sleep !!! and we are off to the airport, get through all the .... Stuff that you need to do for a international flight, get to our gate with less than an hour to wait, so that is good. We get on board our little plane heading for San Francisco, smooth as glass flight , I actually slept for a bit on the plane ... That is very unusual for me .... Tracie looks at me as says " who the hell are you??" thanks loving wife !!!! Lol anyway, land San Francisco half an hour early ... find a little place called the San Francisco Soup Company ....holy crap batman!! How many soups do you need ?? And damn expensive too, ok ..... Back to our little plane .... And this time is is chalk a block full, bunch of mountain bikers heading to Lake Tahoe .... Get off the plane ... Finally get some cell service, call the guy that sold us the vette, he is 10 mins away ...cool !!! Vibrating big time by this time .... Lack of sleep ... A vat of coke !! Anyway , all I have seen of the car is pics he has sent, and he is not much of a photographer ..... He pulls up in the loading area ..... Damn this thing looks awesome !!! Boy the security are little generals about the loading zone there, so we get chased out, so we head for the meeting place with soseddie, Marie Callenders ... Never been there before, but seen a bunch of them every time epwe come to LA, so anyway, we are going over things with the car, and all the mods and how that stuff works and was completed. They had to leave, so we are sitting in our new vette in a parking in a place we have never been, waiting for someone we have never met ..... Hmmm mm .... Guess we can go in and get a drink ... So about 20 mins goes by, .... Ok so the vette we bought is a 1978 Indy pace car replica, so it is the black over silver with the red strip .... Ok so you know what we are driving ... So this .. .. MATCHING SSR drives in, slowly drives by the vette, parks fairly close ... But not too close!! Then walks over and looks in the windows ... I say to Tracie ... "this HAS to be Ed" ...... Yep it was, so we sit down and start to get to know each other, Ed then says to us, you should spend the night in Reno, that way you can meet the wife(Sally).
Ed then offers us a room at their place, so we cantinue to visit at the restaurant .... Ed repeats his offer, we still continue to visit.
So I'm currently typing this post in Ed's wood working room, Ed and his wife Sally are very very nice people, and we are honored to call them our new friends.
Their neighbors were poking fun at Ed with the matching vette and ssr in the driveway.
This forum has introduced us to so many awesome people, I can't get over it!!! This isn't just a forum, it is an extended family.
So needless to say we are still in Reno ... But hey we are driving a vette, I dont think we will have a problem get home on time !!!
I just wanted to share our adventure .... Thus far!!!
Thanks for the nice words, Rob. We enjoyed your visit. I know you are going to have a blast driving that fancy Vette back home down I-80 and up I-15 to Calgary.
BlueStreak, I am a recent new member to the SSR Forum, having purchased the Black/Silver '06 SSR last November. This is an awesome car with only 4000 miles and all the options. As a NASA Engineer, I have visited Pasadena - one of my favorite cities - many times on business trips to JPL.
