SSR's to Apple Hill

SEPTEMBER 21st.
Join us for an SSR Sunday only!

driving time from Foster Freeze (400 E 18th St.) Antioch (DEPART BY 7:30am.) to caravan up #160/#12 to #5 north to Sacramento to #50 to #49 Buttercup Pantry in Placerville by 10:00am. for meet & greet for breakfast.

Get off Hwy #50 in Placerville turn right on Hwy #49
& go 0.1 miles to Buttercup Pantry on right.
Estimated distance 106.26 miles & 2 hours.

Everyone could meet @ Buttercup Panry @ 10 am, eat and then drive up to Applehill. I choose Larsen Apple Barn because they have alot of parking. Estimated distance 7.86 miles & 12 minutes. I believe meeting @ Buttercup Pantry by 10am. would get us to Applehill prior to noon.

Reminder; 2-day overnigher to be planned in Spring along Hwy #49 when it's green, etc.

Applehill Map: http://www.applehill.com/Map08_East.pdf
Larsen Apple Barn is the oldest (c. 1860) continuously family owned and operated farm in the area, featuring a dozen varieties of the finest quality apples as well as pears, peaches, and nectarines seasonally, along with fresh apple cider, honey, and pumpkins.
Our Bake Shop is "home of the original apple turnover on the hill" specializing in the Cream Cheese Apple Pie, cookies, apple butter, jellies and other delights. And "Mr. Apple" hangs around for your amusement.

Included on site is the Larsen Pioneer Farm Museum with generations of family and local history on display with a log cabin, covered wagon, antique farm equipment, doll houses and much more.

UPDATE! So far there are 5-SSR's coming & 9-individuals coming. Buttercup Pantry has agreed to set reservations for 12-people (More if others indicate your coming) @ 10:15 because they won't sit until the entire group has arrived. We are lucky they agreed to set a time as Sunday is their busy day I just discovered.

Laren Apple Barn is looking forward to having our SSR's arrived. Have a safe trip but be sure to let me know if your coming but haven't signed up yet. Just respond to this site. PapaWalker

SSR's to Placerville/ Apple Hill

A HUGE thanks to Ken for hosting this event! We had 5 R's for the Apple Hill run and a 6th that joined us for breakfast. A lot of yummy treats made with apples were brought home as well as some very interesting crafts were bought as well. I know at least two SSR's beds were full of goodies. This was one of the more ambitious trips I have been on as we made at least a half dozen stops in the Apple Hill area. It was a busy day and alot of fun.

Thanks again Ken,

ssrgeo.

Cool

George - Thanks for recapping a great run with a fantastic bunch. I sent photos to Steve-WebMaster, SSR-club.com so can enjoy the run. I did manage to include the group photo showing all participants except self. Had trouble attaching other photos showing all SSR's apparently because of size.
