Take A Lap Around Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Thought I would pass this along.
Sunday January 30th Las Vegas Motor speedway will be open to the public. For $30 you can drive your own vehicle around 3 laps, following a pace car so probably no more than 70MPH. You can also have a picture taken in victory lane for $10. All proceeds go to Speedway children’s charities. Thought it would be a nice way to cap off the weekend in Laughlin.
Sounds like fun to me, just think, I'd be driving in the tire tracks of 5 time NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson. I hope I'll be able to hit my marks at 70 mph.

Is there a published timetable, I would think that after the Farewell Breakfast and travel from Laughlin it might be a bit late to get in line. Tough it would be fun that is my $.02 worth.

Count us in!!!!!! Mike thanks for posting. What time are they going to start lining up. I know other car clubs are going to be there early to participate. I guess if we left Laughlin around 10 am we could be at the track about 1 pm. I am not sure what time they are going to start. Be a great way to finish the weekend.
Mario Andretti has his racing experience based at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (they also do several other locations, check his website). For $129. ($99. on special) you can ride in a 2 seat 'Indy' car. You sit directly behind a professional driver - your seat is slightly elevated so you can see over his head! - who attains top speeds of around 190 mph with 4+ Gs in the turns! It's clearly the most fun you can have with your clothes on!
If you're a hooked by the experience you can drive a single seat car up to about 150 mph over 8 to 10 laps for about $400.
More laps and higher speeds are available with pricing elevated as the speed and lap counts climb. You can, after completing the ladders, do an actual 'race drive' where you and fellow "students" actually race.
I've done the ride several times and gone up to "qualifier" driving where I made it within a hair of 160 mph top speed.
Vegas usually runs in the spring and fall and they move to cooler climes in the heat of summer. I rate the experience and value at 6 out of 5 stars!!!

Little More Info
The event runs from 11AM to 4PM.
Since most of the public is expected to show up early they asked that car clubs show up after 1PM
This is the first year for Speedway Children’s Charities to put on the event in Las Vegas so were unable to give an estimate of how long a wait we can expect but did say it should not be long.
@ 12 to 15 cars will be on the track at the same time.

At 70 shouldn't be a problem. I hit them just fine at 143 while we were at SEMA
Hey Mike, can we get more coupons? The one I have indicated that with the coupon you get a $10 discount. I guess we should try to get a hand full the Saturday at Cars and Coffee.

The good folks at Speedway Children's Charities are going to mail a dozen or so to my home. Unfortunately I will not be at C&C this weekend, going to visit my son in San Luis Obispo but will be at C&C on the 22nd.
