...The public viewing site for Vandenberg launches is off of Corral Road near Vandenberg's main gate. To access the area, take Highway 1 to the Santa Maria Gate and proceed on Lompoc Casmalia Road. At the barriers, turn right onto Corral Road and bear left to the top. The launch countdown net and port-o-lets are set up near the bleachers.

There's a scientific launch scheduled for the EARLY morning hours on June 15th (01:47) - or very late on Saturday night (however you look at it! ) - and I was planning to head that way.
Since this is a scientific (rather than military) launch - the date and time have been announced for quite some time - and these launches tend to be more predicable.

Sometimes being "inland" is a plus. We see vehicle and vapor trails best on sunset launches. Just gorgeous! This is from about 180 mi down-range. We may look intocoming up for a close-up look, too.
