Event Reservation Information
Fanatics - the Stanley Hotel is full at this time. Lori and I will be there on Friday to pass out the event packets, however you will want to get lodging elsewhere.
Mike in AZ has been keeping me in the loop on other lodging possibilities - here are a few for your consideration. Again - Estes is filling up - there is a lot going on that weekend, so get your rooms NOW.
The Aspen Lodge (www.aspenlodge.net) or the Lakeshore lodge (www.lakeshorelodge.com) are a couple great possibilities - same company, two different properties. The Lakeshore is nearby in Estes; and the Aspen is up the hill on Highway 7 a short way. It's looking like the Saturday dinner will actually be at the Aspen Lodge - we are finalizing things at this time.
Mary's Lake Lodge (www.maryslakelodge.com) - this is another historic lodge in the Estes Park area.
The only other "deal" lodging available is The Inn at Estes Park. The group rate is $119 a night. Call 970-586-5363 to reserve your room, and use the group code "SSR Fanatics" to qualify for the discounted rate. You can make your reservations at The Inn up to August 14, 2007. Reservations made after this date will be on a space-available basis, and do not qualify for the group rate. The group rate is only good for 9/14 and 9/15.
No matter your lodging choice - if you are planning to make it to this event, be sure to book your room early. Estes Park is a popular destination in late summer and early fall, and lodging fills up fast.
See you there!

Updated information...
Updates...
We are falling back to the Keep It Super Simple principle on registration and prizes. Since a Poker Run requires a bit more manpower than we can muster, and we are keeping Saturday really loose, we've decided to combine the two similar to how Lloyd and Gerry did in Springfield. So - your entry fee gets you an entry into the prize drawing, as well as a nice goody bag with event information and regional information. We will also be including event patches, and we have decided not to offer shirts for the event. Total registration would be $15 for everything - patch, goody bag, and prize drawing entry.
Saturday night banquet - this is still pending - the Stanley's offer was simply more expensive than we were comfortable with, and we are researching a couple other options. Our budget limit remains at $35 or lower.
Entry into Rocky Mountain National Park is $20 per car. This will need to be paid at the park entrance at time of entry. This allows you unlimited access for 7 days. If you have a National Park Service "all parks" pass, you can use that as well.
Other details:
We will meet at 8-8:30 in a single location Saturday morning for a drivers briefing and group photo - we have tentatively selected a visitor's center just inside Rocky Mountain National Park, but we are looking at alternate sites as well - including our parking area at the Stanley - that don't require getting into RMNP first. After the group photo, you are free to explore RMNP or Estes for the day. Caravans through the park are completely optional. The fact is Rocky Mountain National Park is very popular and very busy, and there's very little wiggle room to try to keep a group of cars together. Our recommendation is you can form an "informal" group if you like upon entry to the park, but I would expect members to leave the group at overlooks, turnoffs, visitors centers and scenic areas as they wish, and then continue through the park at their own pace. Hey - if you're only here once a year, why race through the park? Enjoy it!
That's the plan so far. You will be able to pay for the registration by paypal or by check or money order. Suggestions are welcome and appreciated! Just use the "Contact Us" form on the ColoradoSSR website, or send me a PM here.

Reason: Additional registration information so far...
Here are the Fanatics that have expressed interest in making the Colorado Rally this year:
John, You'll have to remove me from your "expressed interest" listing as the Ms and I can't take off from work during that period.
HOWEVER... If this event takes place again in Sept of 2008, then we can come as we'll both be retired.

89 Rod - sad to see you can't make it. We definitely plan to have the rally again in 2008, however we will likely choose another Colorado location to hold it each year.

I've kept the list at the top of this thread current to the best of my ability - I haven't finalized the registration for the event yet - I hope to have that completed this week (5/14-5/20).
My SSR: '05 Concept Truck, powered by Heavy Duty rubberbands, and a really BIG WINDUP KEY!
I have my reservations down. I just wish you had held some rooms with King Size Beds for us. I have not slept in a queen size bed since I was a Freshman in High School.

Focks- I called the Stanley and asked about this after your post - they stated you can make a request at the time of reservation for a King size bed and they will do their best to accomodate you. You can also request again at the time of check-in and they will do the same. They explained to me they honor these requests on a space available basis. They also stated they have a good selection of available kings, and there shouldn't be a problem, but they can't make specific guarantees until check-in. I've come to understand the Stanley does things a bit differently than what I personally have become accustomed to from my hotel experiences, however they do have a unique position - they are a high-demand destination, and they expect to host a wide variety of events (including ours) even in September.
I'll take the opportunity once again to encourage everyone else, if they would like to stay at the Stanley while attending the SSR Rally, to make your reservations with The Stanley as soon as you can.

Add two more!
Just made reservations at the Holiday Inn. (The Stanley only had two double beds left, but said the Holiday Inn is less than a mile away.)
See you in September, hopefully with the new artwork!

I sure hope you didn't mean OCT, but meant instead, SEPT.
