I've noticed occasional "bombs" as well in which the site doesn't load immediately, but comes up a few minutes later if you check back. This is most likely due to my hosting the site on a shared server. Hopefully if I can get my other business idea off the ground, I can afford my own server.

I'll duplicate the itinerary and agenda here, as you suggest, once finalized. Lori and I are working to finish that this week. Lori is conversing with our contact at the Stanley, finalizing the meal and other arrangements. The Stanley says 26 of the 30 rooms set aside for us at the SSR Fanatic rate have been taken.

I'm sorry to hear you won't be joining us, Wildcat. We will miss you!

2008 site suggestion

You cant go wrong with either Glenwood Springs, The Antlers Best Western Motel, Or the Broadmoor Resort in Colo. Springs. Both offer many activities, and are the 2 best places. The Broadmoor is expensive but 1st class. One or the other to me.

Diane and I will be in Denver early,.. Thursday afternoon, if anyone would like to hook up and see some of the sights in Boulder,.. I can think of a few.

Historic Downtown Boulder & Pearl Street Mall

Stop off on the square, and walk among them. Its been a while since I visted this area, but the street life here is as much fun as the shops.

McGuckins Hardware

This is one place that has it all. I guarantee you have never seen a hardware store like this before.

Celestial Seasonings Tea Company

Ever wonder where this stuff comes from? The tour is short and sweet, but the peppermint room is worth the visit by itself.

Coors Brewing Company

I think they still let you have a taste at the end of the tour. This has changed dramatically from the times when you would do the tour and then you could drink all you want. Aparently a lot of the workers would end up spending hours upon hours after their shift in the tasting room.

We can do this on Friday morning and then drive up to Estes Park, with plenty of time to spare.

Here s a nice sample of what you will be seeing in Estes Park, Co.

Take note of the Elk feeding. Its not unheard of to see herd of Elk walking thru town.

Schedule

I've had several schedule related questions for the Estes event, and the response I've made is as follows: all that will be happening Friday afternoon is check-in and perhaps a social gathering, but we are encouraging participants to go check out Estes Park that afternoon and evening and see what's happening. Lori and I plan to be available all afternoon at the Stanley as folks arrive, but we don't expect folks to hang around the Stanley unless they want to - there is a local cruise night they can attend, or perhaps just go shopping or sightseeing. That weekend is the Estes Park Film Festival, as well as a fine arts and fine crafts show. Saturday is when the "planned" activities occur - the only two real group activities are the Rocky Mountain National Park tour in the morning and the banquet in the evening, although we are also trying to arrange lunch in Grand Lake. Saturday afternoon is unplanned on purpose - we want to allow plenty of time for sightseeing as well as unforseen events. Sunday is also open - with optional items to do. The whole "theme" of the weekend is to get together with fellow Fanatics, but also take time to relax and recharge.
Lori and I are working to finalize things this week, and have the information ready this weekend for everyone for the "set" events on Saturday. We will then add the optional activities for Sunday - Lori is looking at getting a spa deal set; there's a 9 and 18 hole golf course, and we will also set up several scenic drives and a casino run as well - all completely optional. I'll be posting this additional information in case event participants want to "extend" their stay a day or so.

We had planned to "time" the trip thru the park this past weekend and establish the "plan B" route in case of snow, however were unable to do so. We are headed to Estes this weekend to finish that task and finalize Saturday's timetable.

My recommendation would be to try to get to Estes Park mid-day or mid-afternoon on Friday so you can get settled and sight-see that evening. Of course, Focks has suggested some excellent activities in Boulder to do on Friday as well, and it's a fun, scenic drive to Estes from Boulder. If you tour the Celestial Seasonings company - the peppermint room is not to be missed. Why does peppermint get it's own room? You have to find out for yourself.

Hey, when you guys go to the Hotel, make sure you ask Grady why his name changed from Charles to Dilbert, ok? I've been wanting to know this since 1980. He'll be easy to find, he's ALWAYS been there.

Sounds good

Hi Michael,
The special stops in Boulder look interesting and fun. That unique hardware store really caught Lloyd's attention. Lloyd and I might "tag along" with you and Diane on Friday morning. We will let you know definately as September comes closer. Thanks for the open invitation.

You will want to wear some nice walking shoes, and maybe bring a compass with you. I really was amazed the first time I happened to walk through the doors. Around every corner I saw something new and different. It was like walking through Mary Poppins Bag.

Nelson, I am still planning on going up at least 4 days early and maybe as early as Monday before the weekend to visit with friends. But if you are going up at the same time, you are welcome to follow me.

Celestial Seasonings' peppermint tea is 100% peppermint! That's a whole hell of a lot of yum! Hmmm....I wonder if Nancy will let me sneak away for a couple weeks if I promise to bring back some nice yummy tea for her.

"They sell that stuff in the freakin' supermarket, Jackass!" Only she won't say 'freakin'.

More rooms made available

Called the Stanley Hotel yesterday to make reservations - was told that all the blocked rooms were booked. But, she would check to see if a few more rooms could be added to the SSR block. They called today to let me know that they did add a "few" more rooms for the SSR group discount. Soooo add me to the list - Thanks, Ross

I didn't know your name was Jack...

You guys could always fly in and rent a vehicle (its only money). I have heard of others doing crazy things like that before.

The question is, will you come ut of the peppermint room, once they let you in?
