Updated information...
Lori and I are discussing details with our rep at the Stanley on Wednesday morning, and we hope to finalize that piece of the puzzle that afternoon. We were in Estes scoping out possibilities this past weekend, and I think the Park Cruise details are almost complete - I'm working on a few logistics, but the cruise looks to be a lot of fun. We have a good candidate for a group shot location, but after that - once you enter the park, the timetable will be yours. Since traffic is single file and crowds are the norm, I'm actually leaning less towards trying to keep an organized group through the park - the option will be there for those interested in a caravan, but I think we will keep it an option.
In case you were considering it, Old Fall River Road is closed this season - they are reconstructing several parts of the road, and it is currently impassable, so Trail Ridge Road is the only route through the park.
Lunch will be in Grand Lake Village. Unfortunately, the Lodge at Grand Lake is between owners, and is closed for the season. We found a great alternate in "downtown" Grand Lake - Pancho and Lefty's. They feature (really good) mexican food and also have a good variety on the menu. If that isn't your preference there are other restaurants within easy reach. (We'll be sampling some others and posting the reports soon.) You can take time after lunch to explore the village - do some shopping, or take in local lore. You can even head back into the park if you like, and back to Estes. It takes an easy hour and 30 min to traverse the park with traffic - double that for sightseeing and stops along the way.
The Stanley is simply stunning. I'm really excited to stay there. I think Lori and I will be setting up on the veranda of the main hall on Friday to handle the registration and packet handout if we can negotiate it. They were handling two weddings the day we visited - the place was abuzz with activity.
For those of you interested in ghosts, they had a sign at the concierge desk for ghost tours at 8pm on the day we visited. They were also conducting regular tours while we were there.
Access to the Stanley is gated - for those of you who were at the Oasis in Springfield, it's a similar setup. We have been promised our own parking section away from the main lot, within easy reach. Those of you not staying at the Stanley, you will still have easy access to the same lot when you are visiting.
The registration form will be online (I've actually finished it - just needs pricing information) - just fill it out and click submit. You won't be asked to pay at the time you fill out the registration form - it's informational only. You will get a copy of your registration by email and a choice for billing - you can pay for your registration via PayPal, or simply send a copy of your registration invoice in with a check. I'll post the form at coloradossr.com as soon as we finalize the expenses.

Stanley now fully booked
I tried to book a room tonight and have discovered that they are completely sold out on Saturday night. Friday night was OK, but the weddings on the weekend have Saturday night filled.
John - please call me tomorrow on my cell or at work. Am PM-ing numbers now.
Lookin' like a good get-together, buddy.

Art, do this in one day ?
Are you nuts? You're out about 1100 Miles 16:17 hours ! I'm out 1109 Miles, 16:28 hours . . . I can't imagine trying to do this in ONE DAY ! However, places to overnight half way through the trip are few and far between also, which means stop at Vegas 1st travel day, Get up super early (yeah, right ), long 2nd travel day to Estes Park. Or, long 1st travel day to Denver, short 2nd travel day to Estes Park ?
I have reservations at the Super 8 (about 3/4 mile from the Stanley) and must take at least 2 days to travel to Estes and 2 days to return. I'm thinking about adding an extra day to my reservation as it seems almost pointless to spend 4 days (going and coming) to take in such a beautiful setting and only be there ONE FULL DAY (arrive Friday afternoon, FULL DAY SATURDAY, leave Sunday ). Are any others planning to stay in Estes Park longer, either before the scheduled event or afterward ?
Is anybody from So Cal trying to divide the trip to Estes Park, into two equal halves . . . if so, where to hell are you overnighting ?
(note: locate that member that has a tear drop trailer, be very nice to him)

Gary, You should look into spending the first night in either St George, Cedar City or Beaver UT then you can easily make it to Estes Park on the 2nd day. I always stop at St Geoge as there tons of rooms avaiable.

Bump
Post 5 contains updated (and simplified) information. We're waiting on proposals from a couple venues for Saturday's dinner arrangements prior to posting the reservation form.
Apparently, a LOT of folks are getting married in Estes that weekend - it seems every venue we've contacted has at least one wedding event going on. Maybe we should add wedding crashing to the activity list.
Hi Jack,
So glad you are going to the Colordo event. I am glad your wife is coming.....interested in meeting the woman who puts up with all your "antics." Bring your boots and let's all go dancing! See you in September.

Bump! Register!
OK, the registration form is complete and online at coloradossr.com. I've sent PMs to the "expressed interest" list - I know that many of you have already made your lodging arrangements, but I wanted to be "all inclusive" for those who may have not done so yet. Please take a moment and register if you're coming.
