Mountain-Prairie Roll Call
Mountain-Prairie SSR Owners - let's get ourselves organized, shall we? If you live in the following states, please post a reply with your location.
Colorado
Kansas
Montana
North Dakota
Nebraska
South Dakota
Utah
Wyoming
I look forward to hearing from more owners from the Mountain Prairie region, and hopefully we can get some events started for our area. We have great destinations; be it the Black Hills of South Dakota, Flint Hills of Kansas, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Zion National Park to name a few. The rest of the SSR nation wants to visit, and we're the region's hosts, so to speak. Stand up and be counted!
My SSR: '05 Concept Truck, powered by Heavy Duty rubberbands, and a really BIG WINDUP KEY!
I am in Texas, but I am thinking about cruising up that away sometime this summer to visit some friends. Still on the planning, and begging permission from the wife stages, but maybe.
thanks jwthomp!
I was tired of seeing my "slingshot spotted" post
I rarely see ssRs around here, makes me feel elite
other times just lonely
not really, black beauty keeps me company
If you look at the Pin map, I'm the only Fanatic in Kansas. The small town I live in has five SSRs!!!! I guess I'm the only one with access to the internet!!!

sad state of affairs...
Ricochet sends a shout out in the Great Lakes forum and gets 32 replies - only five here. Perhaps our region is more practical - if you can't tow a horse trailer with it or go 4-wheeling, what's the use?
Well, I know better - there are more SSRs in our region than the three of us (well, four if you count Frank. - we're glad to have you!)
So, has everyone seen the Ruidoso thread? Anyone interested in racking up some miles on your SSRs?
I saw a post a while back from a Colorado Springs SSR owner - I think I'll PM him and see if I can get him to log on and get counted. Hopefully he has his profile set up to email him.
My SSR: 2004 "REDLINE RED"- Born Date 7-29-2004 #12882
I'm in Omaha Nebraska about 600 miles from you. I have 2500* miles on my 2 year old 2004 SSR. I've seen several SSR's in Omaha, but have never meant another owner. I have contacted, by email, the only other member of the Fanatics & received no reply.
I believe there are enough SSR's in the Omaha area to have a get together if they were awear of each other.
Long story short it would be difficult to have a weekend get together when the area is more than 1000 miles squared.

Excellent! More Fanatics!
Welcome and thanks for stepping forward!
I saw a Redline Red SSR eastbound on Highlands Ranch Parkway and Colorado in Highlands Ranch on Monday 3/27 around 11am - is the owner lurking out there somewhere?
I don't check this part of the forum very often as it gets so little activity.
Took the SSR out of the garage last weekend for a short drive. There was a Toppers Car Club show in West Fargo, so drove the SSR up there and cruised through the parking lot, where I saw a black SSR with MN plates (FastSSR) If I'd had more time I'd have parked right next to it with my HOT SSR plates. It would have made a cool pic, but mine was all dusty and crappy looking from sitting in the garage all winter.
There is a big car show in Deadwood in late summer called "Hot Deadwood Nights" or something close to that. It might be a good time to get SSR people together.
Ok, technically I live in Missouri (Kansas City), but I'm less than 15 minutes from Kansas. Soooo.... since all the other SSR owners in my "region" seem to live in Michigan , can I claim refugee status??

krash59: Sure you can!
The unfortunate reality is it seems we're all s c a t t e r e d in our region, which covers a lot of territory. I like the Deadwood suggestion - perhaps if we could get some more information on it it might be something to consider.
Hey there.... Friends of mine are moving out to Colorado (just outside Durango)... might need an excuse to travel... anyone in Colorado.. or there about?

From Durango, it looks like pherrley and myself are closest, with mikepowell in Utah a distant second. There are more SSRs here than just us, but apparently they haven't discovered the Fanatic board - or maybe they have and are smart enough to stay away from us. You may not be able to find us, but here are some local attractions for Durango - of course, if you know them already, feel free to ignore me.
Durango is a great jumping off point for a lot of what Southern Colorado has to offer. Cortez and Mesa Verde is a short distance away, and they are celebrating 100 years as a national park this year, with a lot of events planned throughout the summer. If hiking is your thing, the NPS is conducting hikes this year to Mug house - never before open to the public; and Oak Tree House - closed to the public since the 1930's.
If you have a day to kill, try the Durango and Silverton scenic railroad - travel by narrow gauge steam train to Silverton, have some lunch, and ride back.
You have a great selection of roads to take the SSR on. My favorite is 550 North over Molas Pass into Silverton. The drive is fun and the views are great, but it gets even better north of Silverton into Ouray. When you get to Ridgway, take 62 to Placerville and 145 to Dolores, then 184 to Mancos and 160 back to Durango. Take in the sights along the way. 145 roughly follows the old right of way of the storied Rio Grande Southern.
Something I like to do is rent a Jeep for a day and hit the Jeep trails. If you like 4-wheeling, there is something for every skill level in the San Juans. If you like life on the edge, Black Bear pass will give it to you - you can access it from Red Mountain Pass on Hwy 550 - just be prepared to buy the Jeep you rented, and make sure the life insurance is paid up. (If you're a novice or driving anything bigger than a Wrangler, don't do it.) Engineer Pass is rental jeep friendly from the Silverton side - you can head down into Lake City and head back over Cinnamon Pass back to Silverton for a fun day of four wheeling.

All the trips over to Lake City & Drango brings back many Happy Motor Cycle trips !

This is the first time I have checked this area in quite awhile. I live in Hot Springs at the southern end of the Black Hills. The event in Deadwood is "Cool DEadwood Nights" and I have been there several times. To enter a vehicle in the event it needs to be something like 1972 or older. Not exactly sure on the exact cutoff year. They do get some very cool cars and trucks on display there.
I would be up for a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park or whatever or if somebody is coming to the Black Hills, I would be more than glad to show them around, should time permit.
Hi my name is Carl Smith & i live in Rifle Colorado. Would love to hear from anyone in this Region. Am member of this site. 05 SS/R Slingshot Yellow. Thanx for any reply.
