I have been reviewing the forum since I joined. I have not seen anyone address this issue. My wife and I drove to Southern Missouri from the KC area. By the time we got to our destination she was ready to find another way back. She and I have to agree to some part the seats are really hard. Do they get more comfortable as we use the SSR. I have a 2005. Since we got it I have put on maybe 3000 miles.
The guys that went to Laughlin should be able to answer this
My longest trip has been 3 hours and I couldn't tell the difference between the SSR and my wifes Lexus. I have noticed that the drivers seat isn't as sturdy as the passenger. From outside the car grab the top of the seat hoop and shake, compare the passenger side to the driver. I guess since the drivers seat has more adjustments it shakes more.

Seat Comfort
Steve and I just returned from the longest trip we have taken in the (Laughlin)
Steve is 6'2 and I am 5'
He is more comfortable in the passenger seat then in the drivers seat while I am more comfortable in the drivers seat because of the controls being there (able to adjust better for my height).
We both found the seats very comfortable and had 800 to 900 miles per day to test them out.
I was able to sit Indian style on the seat which helped in stretching those cramps out.
Right around the 750 mile mark we were both ready to stretch! Butt cramps

I'll bet you what her real problem is lack of room for her legs and feet compare with larger vehicles such as SUVs.
Boyce is 6'4" and has a hard time getting comfortable in the driver's seat for a long period, can't straighten and stretch his legs, so I end up doing most of the driving (like I mind) - I keep a loose chair cushion behind the seats for us to sit on as time goes by just to make the seats a little softer

seat comfort
I have found that on long trips tilting the seat helps a lot. Front of cushion up and back of cushion down and vice a versa it puts pressure on different areas of your butt.

Although I`ve never heard of it being applied to an SSR seat, I have heard that you can get an inflatable camping pillow very reasonably at a camping store. They offer major adjustabiliy, light weight, and endless other uses. I haven`t had issues with my seats in our 06, but I keep this pillow in the back of my mind, in case. Good luck........Paul
I am glad to see this discussion topic. We have not taken a long trip but I am
6'-3.5" and since we have had the SSR since October I have not really found a comfortable position like I find in my Yukon XL or wife's Volvo. There seems to be a missing adjustment somewhere.
I guess that means Dianne gets to drive long distance

Interesting question, Gary . . .
I purchased my SSR from a dealer in Auburn, Illinois and immediately drove it home to Tucson, Arizona (about 1600 miles) almost two years ago. So far, not one complaint with the seating . . . definitely NOT the same spaciousness and sitting position of my Silverado 4X4 but that is to be expected considering the size and type of vehicle.
Thanks to everyone. I wondering if it is nothing more than a lack of padding on my wife's part. She has lost some weight, so there is not as much cushion there as use to be. We are also use to cloth upholstered seats in our Eclipse versus leather seats. This is our first time owning a vehicle with leather seats. I will work on carrying a cushion around if she goes with me on any long trips again. We also own a 64 GTO and 79 T/A both are vinyl upholstered. Thanks again.

We've gone on some very long roadtrips, 10 - 12 hour days. I don't have a problem with the comfort. But Wayne has a bad back so uses a gel pad to help cushion him.
I do like adjusting the front of the seat bottom upwards
What will bring the most comfort to any seat are wool seat covers. Never cold in the winter, nor hot in the summer, and they give some cushioning. At least never found anything better in my experience.
I find the drivers seat perfect. The passanger seat could use more adjustments IMO, and the foot well si smaller on the passanger siide. I don't find them hard, pretty normal for sport seats, definately harder and more in control than luxo cruzer seats, which I find a plus.
my must be custom made for me
I'm always comfortable
I put 34k on my first one
4k on my new baby, drove from southern california back to slc on the first day
love my truck
NOT IN MY CORVETTES BUT THIS SSR FOR SOME REASON IS GIVING ME PAIN NOW DRIVING, IT COULD BE FROM MY HARLEY CRASH BUT HAVE ABOUT 5500 MILES NOW ON SSR AND REALLY STARTING TO HURT TO MUCH TO DRIVE LONG WAY, WHERE THE SEAT BOWS OUT ON SIDES MAKES IT KILL LIKE HITTING A SORE SPOT, GOING TO DOCTORS FIRST BEFORE LOOKING INTO CHANGING THE SEATS, I HAD A 95 F150 DO THE SAME THING GOT RIDE OF IT, BUT WILL NOT DO THAT TO FAST WITH THIS HOTROD.............

If the seat is too firm, and you want to soften certain parts of the seat, go to an upholstery shop where they can remove the seat cover and drill holes in the foam. They use a foam coring saw on a drill, much like the type used for drilling lock holes in doors. This will soften up the seat nicely, not show at all, and is the way custom seats are made to fit.
I find the seats nice and firm, but my Cathi has a siatic nerve problem, and this is what I am going to do to the passenger seat.
Sorry, I did not respond sooner. The goat is in storage for the winter. The brakes went out on the TA just before I was going to put it in storage. Since then I have been trying to get the brakes fixed. I like to do the work myself when I can. At any rate the goat is in a rough stage. It needs some work especially a paint job. The TA was bought new by my wife. It is a Michigan car and had been in storage for about 15 years. It runs good has a little cancer and needs some interior fixing. As far as pictures go I am still new at communicating on the internet let alone trying to send pictures. When I learn how I will past on some pictures. Thanks for asking.
Since October have made two round trips between Minneapolis and Louisville and a trip from Louisville to Miami. Nine or ten hours are no problem - the SSR is still comfortable.
My wife and I buth did real well on our Laughlin trip (9 hours each way).
We did make periodic seat position changes to fight off stiffness (but we needed to in our on long trips).
do you have adjustable lumbar? that helped too.
