Some of those look REALLY scary. We all survved the Royal Gorge event and I think we all went across both ways. Of course you were the brave one who drove the Hummer across so we has pictures from bridge level. Thanks for that.

Great thread Linda
I wasn't lucky enough to do the Royal George but I have done the UP Bridge many times and once when the wind was blowing very badly. I was in a mini van filled with stuff from the cottage after Steve's mom sold it. He was ahead of me in a moving van. I'll never forget that day that same year it was reported that a Yugo came off the side of the UP Bridge in high winds.
Impressive architecture on these bridges for sure.....not so sure I'd want to do any of them but the UP Bridge
Relax people.....
Statistically, your odds of dying on a collapsed bridge are minute compared to dying in an automobile crash.
In recent times (at least back to 1967) in the U.S., I can only remember two main highway bridges falling, with a total of 57 people being killed.
I don't know about ya'll, but I'll take my chances driving my SSR as opposed to walking.....and I'll bet you that your odds of being killed while walking are also much higher than the collapsing bridge.
just looked at the complete list, I have been on 3 of the 27 listed, Keys, Lake Ponchatrain and Royal Gorge, I didn't think the first two were scary, but that third one, man must have been the height
I think one that should have been added (it has been torn down) was the one in Charleston SC over the Ashley River, man that took some concentration !
