Those Goodyears are flat-out scary in the rain. I'm still running what I assume are the original Goodyears (2nd owner June 09, 20K, lots of tread) and I really have to back off and feather everything in the rain. Sure hope he's OK and sorry to hear about an SSR going wheels up.

AGE, not necessarily mileage, plays a huge factor in tire performance, 2BAD.
I recently replaced the 8 plus year old tires with a little over 20k miles on my CJ-7. The improved handling and ride even for a 24 plus year old Jeep is downright amazing.
The rubber gets hard and traction goes down the drain.

Whew! For a minute I thought you were gonna tell me it was MY age (and I was gonna have to come up with an excuse!)

Desert
Vegas? I remember being told its a "dry heat". Yeah, like sticking my head in an oven.......I'll take the Tropical breezes with showers to keep the Florida Flowers blooming year round. Taking a nap with a rain shower hitting the roof is like Paradise!
Traction is really lost at about 12-15 thousand miles of wear with most tires and accentuated with the Goodyears.
