I think you will be amazed at what this will bring, there are alot of people out there with alot of money for just this sort of item. You might even see dealers bidding with a customer's check book. So I really doubt if 5 grand over sticker will go far. At any rate it will be interesting to say the least ! ! ! ! ! !

Auction
Thanks Marc for bringing this info to us I also beleive it will go for 7,000.00 over MSRP! Can't wait to hear the final price. This is just as exciting as announcing the last VIN #
Is the auction open to the public or dealers only?
Auctions are an interesting phenomenon. They are only successful if TWO people want the item badly, or if someone is enjoying making another bidder squirm.
It was really interesting watching the background show about the Barrett Jackson auction. The story about the bidding on the gold 54 Olds F88 show car last year was a prime example. The bidder with the Tennessee hat was done at 900K or so, but Alan Lewenthal had him so peed with his antics that he took him up to 3 million before packing it in.
Assuming there are other interested bidders, and McDoman really wants to add it to his collection, the sky's the limit. He paid 138K for #2, about 125K or so for #3 and #4.
The bidding got that high because someone else wanted it them badly as well, and eventually decided the price was getting out of line.
Too bad there isn't an on line video available of the bidding process. It won't be as exciting as a Barrett Jackson moment on live TV, but hitting the refresh button while on EBay in the final minutes of the auction for #2 would have been very interesting.

Who would want it. 10 years from now NO ONE will care about the last saleable SSR. The SSr was in production for to short of a period to warrant such bally-hoo.
Some rich fool will pay 10K over sticker and think he really has something. All he really has is a final production run SSr like all the others. I once saw this fool that worked for the Corvette plant win a one off factory C5 they gave to an employee at the plant it was a special purple car and he turned down an offer of $217K for it at a Mechum Auction. Now I bet he is lucky to get $50K for it. GM was STUPID the last saleable SSr Truck should have had a special paint and interior treatment to make it special. It just goes to show you GM didnt really care about the last SSR to make it any more special than the rest.

IMO: GM didn't need to make the last SSR extra special. Showing that they wanted to keep it a completely stock production vehicle to me was more noteworthy than having a special one-of-a-kind vehicle.

This is exactly why the SSR IS special.

I guess if you look at our SSRs as monetary investments, we are all fools.

Hey, they cared enough to build it in the first place. No other production vehicle has garnered such special attention from an American automaker as the SSR, with the possible exception of the GT40.
Time for you to step away from the keyboard and get some seat time with the top down, Ricochet.
The last salable Prowler: "This very special one of a kind car was painted in High Voltage Blue and featured a clear anodized frame, a blue soft top, taupe seats, and a matching trailer.... very last Prowler dubbed "The Conner Ave Edition" went to auction and sold for $175,000 "
Conner Ave refers to the plant where the Prowler was built.
The only reason there was an SSr is because there wasn't a Camaro. Now that there is going to be another Camaro its bye bye SSr. GM never came out and admitted it but the SSr was the Camaro replacement. Its going to be very interesting how they will price the new Camaro. I bet its going to be in the mid 40s and another miserable failure for GM. By the time GM gets the Camaro to market 2009, gas will be $6 a gallon. When was the last time you saw the last saleable Camaro or Firebird built? Do you really think anyone cares?
Rickoshay,
How long have you worked for GM. Because everytime we turn around, you seem to have all the answers to what is right and wrong with GM, what they built and why they built it. I wish I had your crystal ball.

Why don't you stay on topic? This isn't about your feelings about GM!
Guess or don't guess!

This is what I mean. The last SSr should have been "different" in some way. I would not pay $1 over sticker for an SSr thats just like all the others. Its not even the last one produced GM took that one. Whats so special about it then?
No, Its why I don't think the Last saleable SSr warrants much attention. Its my opnion you can think differently of course. I find it funny the Dealers looked at the SSr as "lot poison" and now they expect them to bid on this one?
So tired of a perfectly great thread turning Sh**y.
Me too.
I wish Ricochet would get the hint. This was a fun thread about the value of the last production SSR at auction - not a forum for Ricochet to spout his typical crap. Must be discouraging to be from GM and monitoring this site when they see Ricochet spouting off.
Ricochet - if you think the last SSR doesn't warrant your attention, do us all a favour and quit paying attention.
He must be a ball at a party.

Please don't let my opnions bother you think what you must. It only turned Sh@tty in your own minds because my opnions don't agree with yours. By making such comments such as you do against me you are the ones that sour the thread.
If by making your rude comments you think you are going to chase me away or change my mind somehow you are wrong. I should think if you don't like what I have to say it would be better to ignore my comments than to draw attention to them. Now wouldn't it be better if GM gave this truck to some charity to auction off than to the Dealers who because of there poor marketing ability killed this Truck in the first place? Think about it.
I saw a new SSR at a local dealer in the showroom, black and silver with a waterfall badge that it was the last production run. It had a supplemental price sticker for an additional $4000 over MSRP. When I made a serious offer they came down to about a$1000 over MSRP. SSR sales require a special type of person and they may have it for awhile. This same dealer has a pristine yellow 2004 with about 20,000 and they are looking for high twenties as is another local dealer with a red one.
A local Ford dealer is adding $10.000 dealer greed add on prices for the T Bird as it becomes very scarce and is assured some type of collectible status. It is still not flying out of the showroom and I am sure they will come off of it.
A local Saturn dealer is adding $10,000 of grossly overpriced accessories to all the Sky models they get and Saturn was supposd to be a "different type of dealer".
The bottom linr is that there are ethical and honest dealers out there but you may have to beat the bushes and doo some traveling. The net makes this somewhat easier.
I am about to buy a new loaaded black/silver without the last production run badge. Does anyone know ow many were badged and what was the ctiterion?
Also, it is coming with the BOSE sound system. Is this radio XM ready and if not what is the best way to add XM without an add on pasted to the dash and plugged into the cassette or lighter socket. Thanks
If you go to the main page, there are links to the production numbers for each year. There is a great deal of detail about the quantity built with each option.
There were 826 final production run SSRs. The final run was from mid-February to March 17th/06.
I'm not much of an audiophile, so can't help you with the XM. If you do a search using XM as a keyword, you should pull up several threads where others have installed systems.
Speaking of dealer greed - you should check out the "market adjustment" numbers on the Shelby 500
