***Sad News - Florida SSR Fatal SSR accident

I did a quick look - but can't tell if this was a Fanatic involved... Very bad news.

Inverness man charged with DUI manslaughter after passenger dies from crash - St. Petersburg Times

FLORAL CITY

Man charged after passenger dies from crash

An Inverness man was charged with DUI manslaughter Sunday after a passenger died when his pickup truck overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Steven M. Dickson, 62, was driving on County Road 48 near Istachatta Road on Thursday night when he swerved to avoid an animal in the road, the patrol said. But he lost control of the Chevrolet SSR and it went on the shoulder and overturned. Both he and his passenger, Deborah A. Dickson, 62, of Floral City were ejected. The patrol said that Steven Dickson's blood-alcohol level was 0.155, or nearly twice the legal limit. Deborah Dickson was transported to Tampa General Hospital. She died there, the patrol said Sunday.

Both ejected would likely mean no seat belts. That is truly sad.

The Dickson name is not on our Florida fanatic listing. That doesn't mean he hasn't been on the site.

If anyone would know "of him" Dictator would be that person.

That is just horrible! Seat belt might have been enough to save her life if only she was wearing it. Sad...

Very sad, did not see it in our local papers.

We get both St. Pete and Tampa papers.

It must have been in the Pasco County addition of the St. Pete Times.

As Ed posted, not on our Florida Chapter list.

Regrettably sad day for the SSR community.

Checked my records. Not a customer of mine either.

Horrible way to lose your wife....... and then get charged with her death...

To discuss the reason for the crash.....An animal is, as I explained to Maddie, is expendible, especially when it can mean your life vs the animals.

At highway speeds you cannot try to avoid an animal when it may cost you and your love ones lives.

We have a huge deer population in Michigan and we're usually among the top three or so states in car/deer collisions.
The rule is "Hit the Deer"!

Good point , counterintuitive not to swerve for an animal so it's something we need to have workout in your brain ahead of time.

Unhappy Sad

Horrible news of a traffic incident.
We do have a low tolerence for DWI in this state.
0.155 is about 3 Jack Daniels with a beer shooter.
I dont even drive with one beer these days...
