Man there are a lot of accidents near that exit!
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- A rollover accident on I-70 caused someone to go to the hospital.
Around 12:12 p.m., at least one person was transported to Saint Mary's after being extracted from the vehicle that rolled. Grand Junction Police and Fire responded to help free the approximately 60-year-old man.
Investigators checked out the scene just east of the Horizon Drive exit to see what happened. At this point, investigators believe a car in front of him slowed down to turn into the emergency vehicle turnaround. That's when he swerved and rolled his car. Charges are pending.
Traffic slowed down to one lane as police cleared the wreckage for about a half and hour.
I don't know who's SSR it was but there is a good chance that the driver did not have it very long. There were to yellow SSR's in town for sale one was a 2004 and the other was a 05. Both were sold in the last 60 days I believe.
The roof came apart but was not crushed. It seems there is strength in the top structure.

I was thinking that the top may have been down when the accident occured.
I would think that if the top was up it would have remained locked to to windshield header.
On my road trip to Vail CO last week, just as we were getting near the Horizon Dr exit in Grand Junction, my wife & I spotted a yellow SSR on I-70 heading west. The top was down and the male driver was wearing a white or light tan baseball hat.
Sure seem strange as we were both in the lookout for where that accident took place.
I was at a car show this afternoon in my hometown, South Jordan, UT and a guy with his left arm in a sling and his wife walked up and told me that last month he had rolled his slingshot in Colorado Springs! (he told me his name but i can't remember it, he's not a Fanatic member) I told him I knew about his wreck from this website.
He was visiting Craig, CO from, I think he said Arkansas. His wife was following behind in another car, when a woman in a van from a childrens day-care did a u-turn in the median! He didn't see her in time and swerved, missed the van but rolled his SSR! Luckily he only has a broken collar bone and broken left arm. The top was up, it broke loose from the windshield. His wife was able to pry it open a little but when the paramedics & firemen got there they were able to open it enough to get him out through the top.
I told him about this thread, he said he'd log on sometime to give a first hand report and post his totaled vin#.
He's lucky to be alive!

I was about to say, "forget about the name, what about the VIN"? I have tried to no avail to find it at any local wreckers. I figured it might show up eventually on CoPart.
