I agree, sounds like he's talking from lack of knowledge. besides the SSR there were some pretty nice cars he was calling turkeys. I'll bet what he drives doesn't give him a PERMAGRIN
I think JALOPNIK article by Matt Hardigree picking the SSR as #5 turkey is ill advised!
I wouldn't pay too much attention to the blogger. Jalopnik is an autoblog that isn't too well respected. The bloggmeister who wrote this thing probably loves the 1982 Chevy Celebrity he drives everyday!
Point is, opinions are like a$$holes--everyone has one.

Look, if a TURKEY writes a srory about TURKEYS then the TURKEYS in the story are not TURKEYS, only the story teller is the TURKEY.
This particular TURKEY is not a TURKEY anymore, but is an over cooked BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on, onebad . . . someone needs to remain loyal to The Yugo!
I think some of the most misinfomed and/or ignorant people are those that write articles for magazines, especially motorcycle magazines. Most of them take the spec sheets and writeups the manufacturers give them, and write an article in their words. I doubt if very many of them ever get on the bikes they write about. If they do it's usually the "loaner" bikes the manufacturer provides, and the rides are short. They don't get a chance to really get to know the machine. Same with cars.
When the SSR first came out I thought, oh yeah, here's another toy for the rich to play with. Never really looked at them or drove one. But after my first accident last year I went looking for a replacment for the bike, primarily a convertible. Found a yellow SSR in Mobile; drove it and immediately liked it---the SSR in general but not that particular one. Tried to do an ebay "buy it now" on an SSR in North Carolina but the guy wanted me to send him the full amount BEFORE I even got there to pick up the truck. So I bought a new Goldwing instead. After the second accident last September wife said, "no more bikes" !!! Starting looking at convertibles again and ran across this SSR. The rest is, as they say, history.
I don't put much stock in magazine articles and even less on things I read on the internet, unless it's from someone who owns the vehicle, or has in the past. I look at what I like...what makes me happy. I make my decisions based primarily on what I see, or have researched. Let the bloggers ramble on. Most of them are just looking for attention anyway.

IM ONLY AVERAGING 60-63MPG I MUST HAVE A HEAVER FOOT.
Many of those cars aren't turkeys... just not as popular as the K car was... is that an endorsement... not really... but several of the cars mentioned are not turkeys in my opinion.
The article is basicly true. These are vehicles that didn't make enough money to keep them alive. The lucky ones who have one are just a little touchy about what is said about them. Just injoy it and let everyone who doesn't have one , stare and make some jealous comment.

! ! ! ! ! !
I was just reading an article, that stated with the marriage of Fiat and Chrysler, they're thinking about re-introducing the Yugo (it used Fiat motor) in more family styled, multi-passenger models, presumably to replace Chrysler models (Magnum/Town & Country).
The Yugo station wagon will be badged as the "WEGO" and the larger model will be badged as the "YA'LLGO".
Given the reliability, safety, and sales record of the original YUGO, sales are expected to skyrocket by automotive industry ANALysts and bloggers.
