"What if ..."
With the upcoming "Ladies" calendar photos... it started me thinking about "What if... " What would Chevrolet have done with their ads for their SSR if they had been produced back in the late 40's or 50's? What better way to reminisce back in the good-ole-days?
I thought we could start a thread to showcase Old Chevrolet ads. Perhaps some of our member's can use their kool photo-shop talents and find or make a special SSR photo and turn it into an old looking ad and if we have enough photos perhaps we can have a special "OLD Chevrolet SSR Ads" poll down the road to pick out the best of the best "What if ..." advertisements.
Here is my first good-old-time ad below... Again Chevrolet is the Leader... Test Drive one Today!
My SSR: 04,Straighr duals,3G spoiler,4.56,K & N Cold Air Kit,General UHP

Marc, maybe you should be reassigned to GM marketing??

Marc and Keith,
You guys are terrific. You should be hawking PHOTOSHOP software. I love the last one of Keith's. Little box on the bottom "A valuable INVESTMENT".
I think the ads would look best in sepia tones. Best backgrounds would be old (era-accurate) gas stations (like Keith's 4th rendition), buildings, people in period costumes and hairstyles, etc. Also, focus more on the front of the SSR than the rest of the vehicle ... that's the most retro view.

Heck - I just used MS Word - inserted the ad .jpg (formatted to 'tight' fit) then inserted a pic of my SSR (again - tight format) and just sized and positioned it to cover up the original pic. YEAH - I liked the INVESTMENT saying too...
Most of the AD's I found from the 50's and 60's were in color - apparently they were most proud of color by that time!

I just knew some of our members like Keith couldn't resist another new challange... I am waiting for others like BIG JIM to mess around and unleash his extra creative talents too.
I bet there are many others out there so let see more photos made up soon. Be creative and I will through in a small prize to the most creative old time ad.

I can still picture her with her back to the camera doing that 180 degree turn as she throws a kiss to her audience as the program ended . . . . (GAWD, getting old still has some advantages )
