Any interest in another AZ Tech Session?

If y'all are interested in attending, and need or want parts installations and / or repairs, please let us know in this thread.

Thumper and I are trying to decide whether this event is needed, or wanted again. It's always been a great party, and we worked on about fifty SSR's last March, but we don't want to have a bunch of members attend and work on just a few SSR's. There are only so many mirrors, fans, FatMat installations, etc. to be done.....

If you need or want work done on your truck, let us know. We want to make it worthwhile for all.

Thank you, thank you very much

I would love to participate, but first I have to do something about this over heating problem. It's a long drive when your truck sits between 215 - 245. Do i want to chance it?

Will there be Karaoke? LOL

No, you don't want to chance it, have Mikey send you one of his blower fans.....I've always had heating issues with Hellvis until I installed one two weeks ago, the temp stayed just below 210 during the Rally.

My neighbors might have an issue with Karaoke in our back yard, probably not.

Note to local members.....

If you need work done on your R soon, send me a PM and we can Git 'Er Done in my garage. Don't wait if you have heating issues.

The Tech Session, if it happens, will be held on Saturday March 10, 2012.

Thumbs up Tech Session Cluster Work

If there is a Tech Session, I can arrange for a Speedo Cluster Tech to be onsite, and I will gladly perform the R&R for any member that would like to have their speedo face changed for color, etc.
At No Charge.

Costs associated with actual Cluster work will be handled directly through the Speedo Cluster Tech.

Doug -

At THIS time, I don't need anything done - BUT more than willing to come over and turn wrenches. From the Flagstaff photos, I won't stay clean as Mikey, but I was wallowing around on the ground adding tranny coolers.

So sign me up as a not so innocent bystander - but by then, I'll probably need something... >sigh<

Regards!

2011 Route 66 Rally

There were 7 of us R's that drove out from the mid-west. We loged nearly 5,000 hard miles in 2 weeks round trip to the Rally. We drove 70 mph most of the way. Climbed nearly every mountain on the way including Mt. Evans at nearly 15,000 feet. Had outside temps reach near 100 on some days. Some of us had 03/04 R's and others 05 R's. As far as I know, no one had any over heating problems. Lucky I guess!
My temp gauge stayed at 210-220 for the most part with Mike's replacement fan. I installed it 2 years ago before I left for the Texas Rally from Michigan.
I had my air condition on most of the time. Ran with no SSR bra ( known to restrict air flow) and made sure my stock air dam was in place. Parking bumpers/curbs tend to take them off when you are not looking! Also made sure coolent level was topped off before I left home.

If you are going to do it I will come and turn wrenches. I am considering Mikes front cross member repalacement. Have to check the check book before I order one.

I plan on driving to Phoenix in Nov. in my SSR. I have added a number of parts from Mike and plan on adding some others when I am in Phoenix over the winter. Depending on when a tech might occur I would like to install a fan and front crossmember. Few other things I would like too, money permitting.

Doug, My R' needs the Front Frame Stiffening Plate install, also the tranny servo.
Where do I purchase the tranny servo for my 05?
I will offer up my labor for others.

We love doing the Tech Session, just want to get an idea of who needs what services.

Over three years, it has grown into a monster.....from memory (!) the first year we had around thirty trucks, second year forty six, third year fifty or so. In March of this year, we went through 80 pounds of pulled pork, 20 pounds of chicken and 20 pounds of hamburgers, between the Friday night dinner at our home and Saturday at the Tech Session, a keg of beer and about 5 twelve packs of various beers, with NO leftovers

My body needs more work on it than my R, went straght from Flagstaff to the hospital. Just got out today, had pancreatitis it also shut down my kidneys. So the last food I have eaten was breakfest Friday at Flagstaff, been on intervenes feeding until this morning. Now on clear liquid & jello diet, the good news is lost 18 lbs.
Now for the R fatmat, front frame stiffening plate, rear coilovers, & maybe a speedo cluster color change.

I may do the coilovers before the tech session.

Carl, is everything working correctly now?

Weight loss is great, but not because of health issues. Hope you're well, let us know buddy.

Welcome to the Arizona Zonies Dard!

We have installed dozens of main fans and auxiliary fans, and many auto transmission coolers at the AZ Tech Sessions. If you can wait until March, and there is enough interest, we'll hold another Tech Session then.

If you can't, contact Mike in AZ, he can supply all of the above to you, either of us can help you install what you need.

In Arizona, you need all of the cooling capacity you can get, including free air intake. If you experience cooling issues, I'd think about removing the aftermarket grill pieces, they impede air flow.

Feel free to PM me with questions.

Hi Doug,
You are right?! After I installed the billet aluminum grill inserts. I have noticed a slight increase in engine temp. This after being told that the billit grill would not Impead air intake. But But they look so darned KOOL! I have Mike's afta market fans and air dam on. So, it's not all that bad..if I can keep out of stop and go in 110F+ MiKe

My baby is a trooper and needs some work. Aux fan, driver window indexing issue, front parking light (contacts corroded), Mike's metal radiator protector a $2000 racoon too late, I can't get the brake pedal cover back on. There are a couple of other things, but will have to repost when I think of them. Oh yeah, My speedometer is more than inconsistant, 160 on my way to church, there's a problem. What can I do to help? See you there...

Sound like you need the cluster rebuilt - pull it and send to Dick's World Famous speedo shop. Have the face color changed at the same time...

Love to work on other SSRs as much as I like having my black worked on. Count me in Doug! Put me in for roof storage area fat mat. Mikey showed me why I still have a lot of sound in my cab.

BTW, ask for "donations" for the food. I never know what to bring and in these times sure don't feel that you should bear the cost burden of feeding me. Love to be with Fanatics each year and you and Deb are wonderful hosts!
