Sedona Flooding Sept 10th 2009
Thanks to our friends for checking on us, we are OK.
Tlaquepaque Village in Sedona was hit hard with a flash flood yesterday. Almost every shop in our center had water and mud from 2" to 2 feet in them, our gallery was one of the only one's spared, no mud , no water it was within 2" of flooding into our gallery.
Major clean up today, and Tlaquepaque says the center will be open this weekend for our "September Fiesta Art Show". This weekend kicks off our busy season, we hope.

crazy
At home which is only a couple of miles from the Gallery, it hardly rained at all. It was raining lightly, as I was driving home from Phoenix, in "Bigwave" and I was thinking "Gonna break out the cleaning tools when the weather clears.
My son called from the gallery and said we have a huge flood here. Elaine and I headed to he gallery, to see what we could save. When we arrived the water was down, but every driveway every walkway and court yards around the center had atleast 6" of mud, Most every shop had water and mud rings around the walls and mud into the spaces.
One of our girls in the gallery, had 5 feet of water through her Hummer, and two cars floated into the side. Totally trashed about a couple dozen cars in the parking lot. Fire fighters, were scouring the creeks, as a mini cooper floated into the creek, and was part of the problem causing it to overflow into Tlaquepaque.
Wow! Saw the pic's on the news this morning. That's the kind of "big wave" you don't want to see! Thank God you are both okay and your livelihood spared.

Thanks to all
You guys are right, I think that's the only way to describe it, Bigwave's Gallery was the only gallery spared by the Bigwave of Red Mud running through Tlaquepaque.

Hello Big Wave. You don't know us from the SSR Forum, but you may from your business. We're owners at Las Abrigados and have been coming out for years, visiting Tlaquepaque every time. So we may have met at the gallery. We're coming out (in our Ultra Violet this time) from Nashville in a couple of weeks and would like to drop in on another SSR owner. Which gallery is yours? Also, any flood damage at Las Abrigados? We look forward to meeting you. Allen

Thanks
Thanks and it was truly close, our gallery has a lower level about 2 feet lower than the upper level. The water was about 2" from coming in the door and would have flooded the lower level making a pool with no way for the water to flow out. We were truly, blessed.
With back hoes scooping up the mud and washing down the entire center, my son has a power washer and spend two days blasting all of the center after the mud was cleared. Just about all of the galleries are up and running, and we will work in keeping all of the minis out of the creeks.
