SSR Gathering for Balloon Fiesta 2010
Calling all New Mexico area SSRs to gather, ride and be displayed on the field at Balloon Fiesta Park on Sunday, October 3 in the Fiesta of Wheels sponsored by the Roadrunner Car Club here in Albuquerque. Assembly starts at 7AM on Edith Boulevard (Exit off I-25 onto Osuna Road - then right onto Edith Boulevard) keep going until you come upon the line of cars on the right hand side of the road. The ride from this staging area onto Balloon Fiesta Park begins around 9AM - so be mindful of the wait when you have your morning coffee.

For all the Fanatics that are coming to the Balloon Fiesta - I'm going to Costco to pick up several more of the Balloon Fiesta calenders for $3.49 - DO NOT PAY the $12 they want for them at the Fiesta. Give me a PM and I'll try and get one to you. Anyone else on the Forum that wants one - please send me a PM and I'll pick them up before they are all gone at Costco and mail them to you. Don't know how much the postage is to send in a large envelope - but it definitely won't total $12.
Going to the Baloon Festival has been on my bucket list for a long time. Debbie and I can't make it this year, but we are planning to be there next year.

We'll be with you in spirit......

Sounds great Mike - we don't have room for all the Fanatics at once - but we do have one queen bed and one twin bed available. The hotels, motels, campgrounds and RV spaces are triple the (normal) price during Balloon Fiesta each year - assuming they have any availability at all - so you could consider this as an option.

PLAN AHEAD!!!!!
Three years ago we unknowingly went through Albuquerque during this event, and all I can say is that it was an experience.
The ONLY room we could find was, well NOT cheap.
Traveling further west towards Four Corners, we got caught up in an Indian "Pow-Wow", and ended up pushing our Harleys through Shiprock
Listening to the CB through all of this I did learn 2 important things:
Navajo women are "low" maintenance (whatever that means?), and Indian Fry Bread is awesome

We took a ride for our 25th anniversary (20 years ago) in Park City, Utah. It was GREAT - one word of caution, however, especially for the hair follicle challenged men - WEAR A HAT! You don't realize that you are getting fallout from the propane until your head starts burning. Seriously, if you are over 6 foot tall, your head will get toasted!

It is an awesome experience. I got to do that for my birthday a few years ago. I will never forget it.
