Yep. The Southern AZ and East Valley contingent will leave from 5 'N Diner at AZ Mills and hook up with the North and West Valley nuts at McDonalds on Carefree Highway and I-17 after that.

I think C1Trob is heading up the East Valley mob.....times to be set at a later date.

Let's get them going now.
For those wishing to Caravan to Laughlin from the Phx area, on Friday the 25th of January, I have a plan.

If the Eastern and Southern contigent are able to meet at the 5 & Diner in Tempe, and leave there by 9AM I'm sure we can meet at Carefree Hywy & 17 approx 10AM. Leave this point between 10:00 & 10:30 AM.

Should be able to run from here to Wikiup, for a pit stop. A good solid meet point will be the Blake Ranch Rd. Exit on I-40 between AZ-93 and Kingman. Hoping to be there by 12 Noon and stay there untill 1:00 - 1:30 PM.

Best scanario may be to leave the McDonalds in a couple of groups, as a shotgun start. Easier to caravan safely that way.
Open for discussion.
Any takers?

Hi Rob,

Mary and I will be at 5 & Diner and ready to go. It will be our first time for Laughlin Run with SSR Fanatics, so ready to play. Also, do you know of anyone interested in a run to Lake Havasu City on Sat? We have been to Oatman several times, but never to Lake Havasu.

Lets Party

It might be a little early in the morning but I don't think this is right?

Carefree highway and I-17 both go north and south.

Do you mean Carefree Highway and the 101?

Clarity & Caution

Clarity - The MacDonalds is at Carefree Highway and I-17. Departure from there will be due west to Wickenburg and then northwest through Wikiup to Kingman.

Caution - The Wikiup stop is not a good one!!!!! They have a very limited rest room facility and we overloaded them last year. The sign said "for customers only" and I had to do some fast talking to the lady that runs the place. There was a waiting line for 10 minutes...... I recommend a stop in Wickenburg and then at the Pilot on I-40. A leg stretch on the way is OK, but the Wikiup stop should be on an individual basis for emergencies only.

I'll try to get hold of the owner of the stop in Wikiup, but we should plan to NOT stop there as a group.

Are you thinking of Cave Creek Road by chance? Carefree Highway runs east and west.....

Anyway, the McDonalds is just east of I-17 on the north side of Carefree Highway.

Carefree Highway is AZ-74 and it is an East / West route.
I-17 is a North / South route.

For those not familiar with our highway numbering system, the Even number highways will always travel East / West and the Odd numbered highways will always orient to North / South.

I told you it was early in the morning. Thats what I get for trying to think and write at 4:56am.

You are right I was thinking Cave Creek road and not Carefree Hwy.

I'm sorry I will try and think before I speak.

On rare occasions I have been known to be a bit less than judicious in my comments... you could say I have been liable to libel.

Sorry. Nasty habit. It's a sickness. Sometimes I can't help what I blurt out.

I'm new to the group, this will be my first run. I'll plan on joining you at Carefree and
I-17. Is the time to meet there around 10:00 a.m.?
Also, do any of you use CB's to communicate with each other when you do your runs?

Thumbs up AZ Caravan to Laughlin

Notified the manager at 5 & Diner that we would be invading his parking lot the morning of Friday Jan 25th. He was all smiles.
