Red face Anyone in Alberta

Hey All,

I have a 2004 purple SSR and live in Edmonton. Anyone living close? Anyone thinking of going to Peachland in June? We are considering the drive.

Hi, Nace

Welcome to SSRFanatics.

Frankmp is from Edmonton, has a red SSR. Bumblbee (yellow) and Doctorde (silver on black) from Calgary are on here as well. I think a convoy from Alberta would be great - were you referring to the Peach City run in Penticton?

Still have a pretty good number of hotel rooms available. Should be a blast. We did the Lake Chelan run last September and really enjoyed it. Most of the group that met in Chelan will be coming. Sandy and Wayne (Turnheadz) will be there with their UV, and we're hoping Johnny from Wenatchee will have his there as well. Johnny has killer ghost flames on his.

Nice to see you on the site - stay in touch. I'll be in Edmonton for the Boat show mid March - I'll be in the Supra/Moomba booth. Drop in if you get a chance - frank may come around as well.

Hi Nace. Welcome aboard!

Ray, I'm thinking of trying to make the trip in June but too many variables in life to book rooms just yet.

Bob

I understand about life and its variables. I have no idea what I'll need to be doing that weekend, either. All I know for sure at this stage is that whatever it is will just have to wait.

I've been at the Beach Cruise since it started, and this is the first year I'm actually going there to play. Every other year, I've had a boat on site, trolling for potential customers. This year is all about having some fun with other Fanatics.

I guess I'm getting closer to semi-retirement.

Hope you can join us - as the list of confirmed Fanatics gets longer, it'll become more tempting.

Thanks for responding, we are going to try to make it to Peachland in June if work and life allows it. Too early to book rooms yet. Stay in touch and we will let you know when we figure it all out.

Born and raised in Edmonton but now call the west coast home. Hope that still counts as having Alberta blood??

Really, really, hope you can make the Peach City Beach Cruise this year.

This truck is just so totally amazing, and the only thing that can add extra wow is to see a string of them all in line, shining proud in Penticton.

Fingers crossed that we will see you there - I've already registered and the hotel rooms are booked!

I'm also ex-Edmonton. Grew up in northern Alberta, went to U of A, worked several years in Edmonton before moving to the Okanagan.

Nathan - remember that we're in Penticton, not Peachland - you'll be really lonely looking for us there.

Hope you can make it. I had only met one of the Fanatics at the Chelan run by a total fluke when he was driving to Penticton. After two days with the group, it felt like we had known each other for ages. You'll really enjoy the group, plus we have entertainment, food and a great car show to top it all off.

Keep in mind the room reservations are only being held for us until 60 days out.

I've got a perfectlly good Honda van for any inclement days. At the slightest sign of a flake,(snow that is),the ssr,(what does ssr stand for?),will be in the garage--It might even think that it has been adopted by someone in a warmer climate.

Thanks for the reply Ray. I'm in Calgary. I am awful at comp. skills but today I think that I have finally figured out how to reply. I'm looking forward to learning about this crazy truck and meeting some of the other folks who are crazy enough to own one. If you would like to chat off of this site--and maybe help me with some of the skills needed to use this site better, contact me at --johnonline@shaw.ca--I also have a nearly free long distance phone plan and if given a number and an appropriate time to call would be glad to do so and chat.

One last blitz for our fence-sitting friends. Our room allocations will end on May 19th or so.

There should still be accomodations available after that time. there are lots of motels in Penticton, and a few in Summerland. Our guaranteed rates are better than shelf rates if you were to phone in.

Hopefully, a few more of our Alberta friends will decided to make the trip.

NW SSRs at the Penticton Peach City etc

Hi, For sure.
Bought the first one about a year and two weeks ago... By July 'she who must be obeyed' said she was not getting to drive it enough so... started the hunt for a second one. Picked it up about two weeks ago in Oregon.

Sparky.

I'm going to be in Edmonton the night of Sept 28th, and planning to meet up with a few SSR owners there.

Going through Calgary, but need to meet up with my boat dealer Thursday night. We'll probably get a mid-morning start on Friday - will likely be staying somewhere in the north east area. I'll send you a PM once I know where we'll be. Maybe meet up at a Timmys for a quick breakfast Friday morning while Iris is getting ready to roll.

I'll be driving the two-tone 6 speed, with fresh 4:10 gears. Stopping in at Westers near Brooks Thursday morning to get it re-tuned.

Be careful, though. I may be recruiting you to come to Penticton next June.

60 or more SSRs, great people, great car show, Peter bringing the Dragon, what could be better? With 8 already registered from California and Arizona, no reason for someone just down the street not to make it.

I am curious about your re-tune @ Westers. Is this a local speed shop? And if the re-tune made a diff. & was worth the price. Let me know once it's done. Thanks.

Lyndon Wester has a shop in Tilley, about 13 miles from Brooks. Seems amazing that someone living 13 miles from nowhere is getting computers shipped to him from all over north America. I think he mostly does Vettes, but he also owns an SSR. I have no idea how he was discovered, but he's the one that Jim Gnitecki (resident engineering guru on Fanatics) raves about.

Main concerns on mine are to recalibrate the speedo for the 4:10 gears Service manager at my GM dealer says they can't do that), lower the turn-on temp for the fan, and hopefully tune out the over-rich mixture on deceleration to eliminate the popping noise that seems to love coming out of those trumpets I installed (Mike in AZ's Old School Duals). Iris doesn't much like the gunshots coming from the back end whenever I slow down.

Anything he does to boost performance is a bonus. The neat thing is that once you've bought a tune from him, any mods from then on are no charge. That would even include re-tuning for a supercharger.

I'll hopefully learn more from watching him work on it, and report back. I'm interested to know if there's some way he can protect his tune from getting pooched by an overenthusiastic GM tech.

Hi, I'm afraid Friday the 28th will most likely be a problem. As far as I know I am working that day. I work downtrown right now and parking is just stupid. You need to be down there early or you just don't get a spot.
The Penticton gig sounds interesting

No kidding the middle of nowhere.
I first heard about Westers on the Avalanche fan club web site. I was shocked to learn that a guy in Tilley Alberta had guys shipping him stuff from all over. Almost a cult status Have heard nothing but good things.
I had talked with him and kept wanting to take my Av down there after I had the Whipple SC installed, but never got around to it.
What I did not know was that he had/has and SSR.
I think I'm going to have to get in touch with him again, but this time on the SSR

I'll hopefully learn more from watching him work on it, and report back. I'm interested to know if there's some way he can protect his tune from getting pooched by an overenthusiastic GM tech.

Hi Ray

I live in Gibsons, BC and have a 2005 and I would like to change to a 4:11. Where did you get yours done - how much - how much difference does it make?

I am grateful you included the info about Wester's shop. The next time I go to Calgary, I would consider going to him for a tune. I drove to Calgary from Vancouver and back to Vancouver on the holiday weekend in August - WITH THE ROOF DOWN ALL THE WAY! What a great trip.

At this point, I am not sure if I can make Penticton because of work commitments. I will try.

We are getting a little off topic, but I have just sent an e-mail off to Westers to collect some info, will advise anything I learn. Based on everything I have heard about him/them, I suspect I will take at least one of the trucks to him.
