I think the final one should be the GM.................WHITE with a RED interior.....................like the first vet, Pipe the red seats in white...a classic!!!!!!!
My SSR: "Redneck Roadster" #10764 - '04 Smokin' Asphalt Black - Woodfield Chevrolet 3/05
You all forget.......
the first SSR was Black, not Ultra Violet. The 2000 SSR was the vehicle that started all this....a Smokin' Asphalt Black SSR should finish it. If Marc NY says it's gonna be two-tone....then I'd say, make it Ricochet and Smokin' Asphalt.
Many thanks and congratulations to all the LCC employees that produced the greatest truck Chevrolet ever built!

Quote from "SSR - An American Original"
"A few days later, Wagoner and Ritter drove the PURPLE/BLUE SSR concept vehicle in the Woodward Dream Cruise"
Every photo I've ever seen of the concept, including all the shots in the book, are of a purple truck. I rechecked several of the articles written about the concept, and same think - all purple.
Any info out there about a black truck in 2000?

I have photos of the original 2000 SSR from its debut at the 2000 Chicago auto show. I'll try and dig them out and convert to digital so I can post them. It was defintely Black. I also have the official GM Maisto model which is also black.
They also had 2001 and 2002 concept vehicles that were redline and ultra violet.

Went back through the SSR book again last night - no mention anywhere of anything other than the blue/purple concept.
P 32 - "stunning Chroma Blue SSR concept vehicle in the Woodward Cruise"
P38 -"GM VP of design Wayne Cherry unveils the SSR concept car at the 2000 NAIAS"
- photo is of the blue/purple
p 44 - "The production-intent prototype was painted yellow for Woodward at Marketing's request, while Cherry wanted it to match the show car's exotic Chroma Blue for a December pre-auto show media briefing. ASC applied purple-blue Ultra Violet (a close match to Chroma Blue) for the media event over the yellow in "peel-off" waterbase latex primer. Then it was returned to ASC for the latex to be peeled off, revealing the yellow again for the public show,"
Photos on P4, 5, 8, 10 are all of the Chroma Blue.
With the right lighting (actually, lack of lighting), purple and aqua SSRs can look black - in fact the photo you show is of the Chroma concept, which was unveiled at NAIAS - in Detroit. It may have gone to Chicago from there - couldn't find any mention of additional shows in the book.
The model of the concept shown on p 136 is purple. According to the info, over 200000 were sold. Maitso painted the concept in red, yellow, black and silver as well - but none of those ever existed except in Maitso's line-up.
Attached photos are of the Concept at NAIAS, the concept, production-intent and 48, a photoshop of 2 concepts at the fuel pumps, and the concept on display, I assume at last year's homecoming.

2000 SSR Color.........
I think you're right......I couldnt find the photos, but I found the videotape, and although it appears to be black, I can see it has what I would call a "black cherry" radiance on the edges. It was on a turntable and when the light reflected a certain way you can see it was not pure black.... At any rate, in my mind's eye, I remembered it as being black, which must have been reinforced by the Black Maisto 1:24 model. The point is somewhat moot however, being that the original color (which was never offered on any production models) and IMO is closer to black than ultraviolet, should be the color of the final production unit......So I guess that officially changes my vote to "special one-time color".........................
