My 2003 SSR was a GM owned PEP vehicle with 4k miles! It was listed For Sale on the GM employee web site in early 2004. There was 500 plus employee's that had in for it. It was a lottery type drawing for it. Someone from GM called my home and said I won the drawing to buy the 2003 SSR. They said I had 48 hours to make up my mind if I still wanted to purchase it. The rest is history.

Bought from Chase Chevrolet with 21,000 miles on it along with a new extened warranty, along with complete service records from Chase where the rig has seen all of it's service work from. The rig is immaculate inside and out. The paint is flawless......
As always,
BLACKIE

Just purchased my 05 SSR two weeks ago. Checked out other sport cars, but I have always wanted the SSR. It's damn cool. Been quite pleased and the weather has been great here in H Town. I want to upgrade the audio system. After some preliminary research, thats going to be a challenge. Cannot easily install an amplifier. Will install backup camera and Siruis at least.

I am the original owner, I was hooked when the concept came out, but 50k was TOO much, 4 years go by and I am in Detroit Mi for the first time in 10 yrs at Xmas time, as we are leaving early for the airport we go by Les Stanford Chevrolet (" The Corvette King in Michigan or so they say") in Dearborn on a snowy day and they have 34 SSRs on the lot, turns out they make dealer trades with smaller dealers around the country for the Corvette and HAD to take the SSRs as well ( too expensive to sell in the small towns).
I briefly spoke a deal and was amazed at the discount compared to Las Vegas, where there were always plenty to pick from ( at MSRP)
I tried making a few bids on EBAY, but with dial up at the time, I was always outbid for the good ones, Wife says, for those prices call Detroit, well I emailed them in the dead of night and got a reply promptly the next morning of my choice from their fleet.
I chose a loaded Black one and had it shipped out.
Almost 4 years later the Black Eagle has 8500 miles and is a dream to own.
I will never sell it, it is a rare animal and the pride of ownership of such a magnificent vehicle is very exhilarating.
Back in Black 400 HP , what else could you want?
"No regrets", oh by the way Detroit IS the place to get deals IMHO, I was going to get a Camaro SS, BUT I will wait for the New Corvette Stingray C7 and most likely get it from Stanford as well , uh 2 years after they come down to earth.

Black of course 420 HP
I think you will be waiting, as they are delaying the C7... but cool, too.
My SSR: 2005 Redline Red w/ 02100 miles. Never been in the rain!!
I am the second owner of a 05 Redline Red 6 speed. Had 02100 miles on it when I flew to Mo. and drove it back to Northern Michigan. Has never been in the rain and lucky enough that the 800 mile trip back was sunny and dry.
My SSR: '06 Screamin' Redline Red Vin # 23025 3SS Born Dec, 4, 2005 , Chrome package, gauges
Original Owner, Redline Red '06, now has 61,000 miles. Bought it new when I traded an originally owned Ricochet Silver '04 with 47,000 miles. My SSRs have been essentially "work trucks", usually carrying 500-600 lbs of ladder, compressor, hoses, cords, air guns, tile saws, hand tools, samples and sealants, etc. Can usually make most SSR owners visibly ill when opening cargo compartment and showing them the mess back there. (its nothing personal - its business)
I am the original owner of my HOT-SSR, I seen it the third week of September 2004 in Hutto, Texas, at the Covert Dealership. We were with my youngest daughter while she and my son-in-law were purchasing a vehicle for themselves. It really struck a chord in me when I seen it but we were there for our daughter, however the salesman new that I would have loved to have it. We left and after being home for one week I got a phone call from the dealership telling me they would make me a deal and there would be no interest if I wanted to make payments. It was my wife's birthday when went back the next weekend to test drive it, they had three 04 on the lot, red, yellow, and black. The only one I test drove was the yellow, since my older daughter said "If you want to be noticed Dad the yellow one is the one to buy". So on my wife's birthday we purchased my HOT-SSR 2004 Yellow Slingshot, it only had 7 miles on it and I put most of those on it when I test drove it. My 04 HOT-SSR now has 46,700 miles on it and I am the one that has put them there.
I still own it and enjoy it every day, I have a very special sign given to me for my birthday, it is where I park my vehicle "HOT-SSR Parking" and it is a joy to drive.

Glad to have another Canadian in the group. Hope you survive this winter as well. Looks like it might be a long one also.
You might find it a bit easier to navigate the site if you became a supporting or Lifetime Supporting member which would remove a large portion of the ads you must be putting up with. No pressure, just a suggestion. Many of our very active members are in the same boat as you and they seem to handle it well.
Again, Welcome to the family and let us hear from you again soon.

BlueStreak it really has nothing to due with ads which I haven't seen many of. It's me and the computer. I mean just these messages that these R guys & gals put on are mind blowing to me. All the different prints & colors, happy faces or not, ssr all colors some have head lights & parking lights fashing all sorts of animals plus Curly, Larry & Moe. It just me first finding the spot to put the information in and trying to dress it up for me. The wife (Marg) will give me a hand later. Just grabbed the free one because I'm just feeling my way along here. I know that by the of march I'll be outside till the end of november enjoying life as best I can & during the good weather ownly play on computer once a week sometimes 2 wks. So we will see what happens. Oh felling no pressure. Nice to chat.
I am the second owner,it was a prior dealer leased.
I grew up in the 50's with hot rods & not much money, but built a 32 3 window ford, stepped frame, channled, flat head, with heads carbs &headers cycle fenders & a lot of fun. ( drag racing on back roads in surban Phily.)
I didn"t think that I would ever have another car like that, but last year on the way home from the hospital ( chemo treatments ) my wife asked me if I still wanted one of those Chevy convertable trucks . Well within a week a dealer brought this 04 to the house for us to see, WOW! I was in love.
What a great machine,I smile every time I look at it.
It truly is my time machine, it takes me back to my hot rod days.

My SSR: '03 Redline #1110 "Fire Belching Turbo Blaster"
I am the 4th owner of my '03 Redline. Loved the SSR since it first came out, but could not afford one 'till now. Got mine about 2 weeks ago with 50K mles on it. Strange little story about this truck...It was owned by the local chevy dealer for about 4 years. He and his wife got divorced, she got the truck in the divorce (2nd owner). She had it about 30 months, and gave it to her daughter (3 rd owner). She had it for about 3 months and didn't like it 'cause it was a truck. She took it back to her dad (the owner of the local chevy dealership) and swapped it for a Vette. Now this little SSR has been family owned since new and mantained at the dealership. I have all service records and repair records......I bought it for $17K.....It is like new in everyway, except strangely enough...the dash ac vents had all the horizontal parts removed, was able to find 4 new ones from Floyd here on the forum. The other, the tire patch and inflation kit had been removed and replaced with a SSR tire and wheel, also found a kit through someone here on the forum. This truck looks like it just rolled off the line....Just goes to show you if ya wait long enough you can find that great deal. OBTW, My wife has a Chevy HHR, same color....they look great parked together in the garage.

My SSR: 2004 Smokin' Asphalt #8480 Adopted March 1, 2010
Third Owner...
Well, today (March 1, 2010) was the day that a year or so of discussions finally closed... The Smokin' Asphalt 2004 SSR has found its third home.
It was originally sold by Humberview Chev Olds in Etobicoke (Toronto to those of you from outside Ontario...). My mother-in-law purchased it in January of 2005 with 6,122km on it from Leggat Chevrolet, also in Etobicoke, as a gift for my father-in-law. My father-in-law drove it for 3 years, until he passed away in 2008. I drove it for the summer of 2008, then polished it and put it away for my mother-in-law to sell.
Selling the SSR was a frustrating, emotional experience for her. Too many emotions were bundled into the little truck... I had always expressed an interest, but just couldn't swing the finances. But, what's money for anyway?!? Well, she made us an offer we couldn't refuse, so we didn't!!!
Can't wait for the nice weather to arrive so we can start permagrinnin'... Looks like nice weather this week, so I'll have to take it out for its E-test and certification, then I'll put it away for another month or so Then there's the Ministry to deal with over the personalized plates
Second owner of a redline red 04 and just got bad news that the rear end is out of allignment. Carfax didnt have any report of any accidents or damage.
I believe I'm the second and last owner of my 2005 Slingshot Yellow SSR. Traded in a Ford truck and a Mazda RX-8 to get this "rocket sled"...love it...even my wife approves. SpicewoodGlenn.
My SSR: Yell05, chin&tail spoilers, magnacharger, color-matched inner wheel rims
3rd owner, on a technicality...
Technically speaking, I'm the third owner... but I'm not sure the first one even counts; he brought it back to the dealer compaining that the heated seats didn't work, didn't even want to wait for a repair and traded for a cadillac suv.
2nd owner loved it and made some real nice modifications while racking up 40 thousand miles in the Florida sun. He needed to downsize and so put it up on ebay for me to find. He said he needed to heavily sedate the Slingshot (made even 'more' yellow by constant exposure to the sun) when it was told that its new home would be in the 'great white north' (relatively speaking). I made the committment to purchase it in October '09, but the seller understood that I needed to turn in my lease vehicle before being able to divert the cash for the full purchase.
I took delivery on the Friday of my birthday weekend, 2/26/10, (really just a week ago!?) and drove her to an awesome Fanatic gathering in Kissimmee, then on home to Michigan. I had some really nice hilly switchback sections to throw her into while coming through North Carolina! Anyway, since it's still kinda chilly here, I put her in the warm service bay of my local speed shop to get tuned up and ready for the official spring unveiling to my friends & family. My 9-year-old is in love with it, is the only one who's ridden in it with me, and can't wait for me to get it back. He has a picture of it as his phone backdrop that he shows all his friends. It's really fun to be a 'cool' dad!
