There was a 1/64 scale on eBay last week and the guy wanted $20.00 shipping! I wrote him and he said $5.00 of it was for gas and his time going to the post office!

They haven't made them for years. I think the last I heard about them in stores was back in 2004. Prices vary, $150 to over $300 seem to be the range according to someone tracking them: New Bright's Sold on Ebay Since 11/21/09

I agree it seems high, but if I calculate the cost from the sellers address to mine using the UPS online calculator it works out the advertised price within a few dollars. If you're on the West coast it's going to cost quite a few pennies. I am probably off by a pound or two from memory but you have to remember these things are large.

Yup, it's high priced shipping but Rhode Island to Pennsylvania is another 500 miles or so. Probably more trucks passing through PA than RI too.
UPS shipping is by volume if my memory serves me well. So, that large of a vehicle could be costly even if it's light. Probably charging for the box too.
Just a note... I got one not to long ago and the shipping cost was about $40 from Connecticut to PA. UPS and Fed-X use dimensional weight and the size of the box really runs it up. it's ridiculous. But is what it is.

Good catch O6!
Thanks guys! Shipping is crazy on some things. I sent a rocker for a GTO fom Al to Indy by DHL and it cost $30 sent two GTO rockers to RI by UPS and it ran $20.
Glad I could help you out. Hope it's as described and you enjoy it! They are fun to own, just really big.
I will findout Friday as that's when it's suppost to be here! I remember them when they were new, they were very big! Wished I had bought some then, but didn't even dream of owning a R back then!

they are big...I have a black/pearl one......looking for a blue
Received it today. For the most part the seller was accurate, has a few more defects than was described. Nothing real bad just a few more scratches than described. I am going to detail it and if not satisfied, I just might repaint it. Don't really care about keeping it original if it is not going to look good. I am planning on using it when I show my R, so it has to look as good as the real one.

That's what I'm thinking about doing too--so a box isn't really that important to me.
