One Of The Rarest And Most Sought After SSR Collectables
I have been asked by some SSR Fanatics to have a Silent Auction for one of the very rare "SSR Sets The Pace" framed poster.
This is the poster I commissioned the famed Howard Kirchenbauer to make for the 2008 Woodward Dream Cruise.
For those that haven't heard of Howard he was the photographer for the Indianapolis 500 Raceway and set up the Pace cars for their photo shoots. Many of the pictures Howard used for the poster were never seen before and works of art themselves.
I had Howard make a total of 12 plus 1 artist proof, they were numbered by Howard 1 through 12 and he signed each one of them. The 13th went to Howard and was not numbered but had A/P on it.
That year at the Dream Cruise was a reunion of sorts for the people that developed and worked on the SSR program. I was fortunate enough to get 5 signatures of the Design and Engineering team that developed the SSR from concept to the finished truck we now own.
They are Glen Durmisevich The Lead Designer of the team Ed Ivey Program Manager Bill Davis GM Vehicle Chief Designer Doug Ungemath Doug did the original concept Tim Kohrman Lead Interior Designer
They came together from all over the country that day and were gracious enough to put their signature on this poster instantly making it a super rare SSR collectable.
Now 1 lucky SSR Fanatic will have the opportunity to add this great collectable to their collection.
If you have been watching the collector market lately anything SSR has been going for almost ridicules prices. The Pewter display of 2 SSR's numbered 1 through 500 going for over $1000 at auction. (and there are 500 of them out there!) Or how about the New Bright R/C models that originally sold new for around $59 now going for over $300.
I am not going to run this poster on E-bay where it would get a lot of exposure, it will only be here on the SSR Fanatic site. And all Fanatic members will get the chance to own it.
The rules are simple PM me with your bid,the bidding will start at $100 and I will run it for 10 days at the end of the 10 days the highest bid will receive it. Example say you PM me a bid of $300 I will post the new bid at $125 (as I will raise bids by $25 increments) Someone else PM's me a bid of $200 I will now post the new bid at $225 and your $300 original bid is still high if no one raises the bid from the $225 you will be the winner and it will cost you $225 plus shipping. If by chance it ends at over $500 I will pay for shipping, under $500 I will calculate the shipping depending where you live. I will accept check, money order, credit card , or paypal for payment. If I get identical bids the earliest one will be the winner. To make it fair for everyone and so no one will be intimidated by bidding against their friends no names will be posted only the winner at the end.
I will not say the exact time bidding will end only that it will end a week from Wednesday so don't try to wait till the very end and snipe it because you may miss out.
The Poster you will be bidding on is 3 of 12 also included is a letter from Howard also signed and numbered explaining how the poster came to be.

Well, I really wanted to keep it silent and anonymous, but I figured Ray would know everyone's bid and he could just outbid me by a buck, so I PM'd Moody with my bid cause I knew he'd keep it secret.
I think I've got a pretty good chance.
That's a great poster for sure though!

Sorry Ray. I was merely jesting with Doophus.
The way you are handling the auction makes complete sense to me.

Ray (Windsupressr) commissioned these himself and paid the costs up front two years ago. A couple were sold in silent auctions, others were raffled.
I suspect Ray has lost money on the ones he has released so far. The selling or auction prices probably don't cover the costs of getting these matted and framed.
Maybe this one will be profitable for him.

Flassh, that is so true I estimated with the framing and what I had to pay Howard my break even is over $300 each And that doesn't include the 2 I donated to the Woodward Dream Cruise as door prizes.
I probably will be donating others in the future. I want to keep the interest up and make sure the people that have them see them not only as a great SSR collectable but a great investment too.
I only have 6 left of the original 12 so I doubt you will see any more become available for a long long time!

No Windy, I knew you would never believe I would question your integrity, unless hockey was involved.
Of course then everything you say becomes suspect as it is usually full of fabrications.
Then the gloves are off buddy!
