Sew, have you made anything with your SSR fabric?
We have had our D.C. SSR cloth for a month now. Let's see what you've been making with it!
I have a tube shaped Moshi pillow that we use on road trips, I figured a cover for that would be suitable
I'm ready to cut out a shirt now. I haven't been to the store to buy a pattern for about 6 years. Let's hope it works out.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ORDER SOME FABRIC GO TO Last Chance to Order SSR Material and let MarcNY know. You only have until February 1, 2010, so don't delay!

Betsy Ross is alive and well . . . living in Langley!
Sandy.........."lookin' good" on your sewing project. You will be shocked when you go to purchase a pattern......be sure to take a discount coupon with you! I think I will be sewing some shorts and a cool top with my fabric. I'll have it ready to wear when we go to Colorado Springs this July.
Have you made any leather projects with your new "horse?"

Glad to see I wasn't alone......I sure am happy to see some material surface here and I hope we see more backgrounds on the material in the future Thanks for the info
It's been a while since I pulled out my sewing machine this gives me a reason to use it now
Sew...... nothing yet, but I will be getting another shirt with the SSR pattern matched in front, ala Tommy Bahama style. I am still pleading to get matching shorts.
Lucky for me, my better half is a seamstress. She also plans a shirt for herself. Sandy, if you want ideas for patterns, send me a PM.

Sandy...a little hint from one seamstress to another. The best way to get a GREAT fit is to take apart an old shirt that fits well and use that as the pattern.
My son's father was a musician and I made all his stage clothing this way, shirts and pants.

I bought a couple patterns a few days ago, all shirts (or should I say blouses ). Cut one of them out this evening (remember the good 'ol days when a pattern was for one size?). I'm changing it up a bit. Bought some solid dark purple fabric to use on a few areas of the shirt as accents.
Gerry - no I haven't had a chance to use the stitching horse yet (for all you others reading this, it's for clamping leather together while I hand stitch it)

I just got off the phone with Marc the owner of David Carey store. He told me that he would order more yards of SSR material for us one more time.
I have two weeks to hear who would like yard(s) of SSR cloth and he will then order them by Feb. 1st. and it should take approximately 4-6 weeks to get the material in. So if you would like me to I will start up a poll/ thread to see how many of our members would like to order the SSR material by the yard. I will need to know how much yardage everyone will need. After Feb. 1st there probably won't be any more ordering.
Marc said he will make the effort and go the extra mile to get the supplier to make up the material one more time because we all have been so good to him.

I know my better half would liked to order some. When she gets home tonight, I'll ask how many yards she wants.
Thanks Marc, you got me out of the dog house.

Awesome Marc. I wonder if the price will be around the same amount. Let me think a day or so about how much I want. I can see an SSR quilt in my future.
I think starting a poll is an excellent idea.
Thanks buddy.

Gina, also go 'trolling' for scraps/rems from those who have already bought. They may be willing to save you some quilting materials... just a thought.

My better half says she like 3 yards if the price remains about the same.

I bought 8 yds. Gerry asked me what the heck I was going to make??? I don't really know but just never want to run out!
It sounds like a poll would be a great idea Marc. There are probably more fanatics that were unaware fabric was available.

I was thinking at least 6 yards myself. If I decide to use it for the back of the quilt I intend to make I'll definitely get 8-10.
I'm like you, wanna make sure I have plenty of it.
All type of fabrics available and the turn-around is about one week. Costs more than fabric from your local WalMart or fabric store, but it is original work and the design won't be shared unless you say it can.

cool speaking of Walmart. We popped in there after I couldn't find plain purple cotton fabric at the now one and only fabric store in town and Wally no longer(for almost a year now) sells fabric.

Sandy, it means a trip downtown, but go to Dress Sew on Hastings Street. Huge fabric and sundry selection and low low prices.

thanks. I just went on yellowpages.ca and found Dressew. When you said downtown you meant it. We get over there maybe twice a year. But I will for sure make it a stop next time we go

Same here Sandi. Our old Wal-Mart had fabric but when we got our Super Wal-Mart last year they quit.
Lucky for me there is a quilt shop about a mile from my house and they have a very good selection.
The best one I have seen is in Panama City Beach Florida. Its called Quilting by the Bay and they have a great selection there.
I guess its getting harder to find a fabric shop because people sew less and less. I just started about 3 years ago and I love it. Just not very good at it. I signed up for a quilt class at our local fabric shop that is supposed to start on Tuesday the 19th. So far only me and one other girl have signed on.
