Bought all of mine on EBay, or from other sources. Not lucky enough to find any of them on a store shelf.
Walked away from a few on EBay when they cracked the $50.00 mark. I think Grimye was beating me to them.

I started collecting late in 2004 while there were still some SSR diecasts in the stores and on line. I still missed a lot of them.
In the SSR book "An American Original" on page 136, it says "more than 200,000 SSR models sold before the actual vehicle hit the streets".
Where did they all go?

If you can find this specific Greenlight model (03 Indy Pace SSR) for $34, let me know.
I'll take 10 at that price.
I haven't seen one for that price in 5 years of looking. I bought the ones I have really early, before they became hot sellers.
