Are there any licensing issues with the items being made and sold here? I have a contact that would be able to produce some SSR stuff but they say I need a license agreement from GM because they own it. Is this true? How do you get one?
I know a few years back the Dakota RT group had problems with Chrysler because of the same issue, as well as the AMC people before that.
Just curious.

YES THERE IS. AS I WORK AT A DEALER AND HAD TO HAVE THE HATS MADE WITH OUR NAME ON THE BACK. AS WE ARE AMERICAN CHEVRLET. I HAD PUT ON THER "AN AMERICAN CHEVROLET" ON THE BACK TO GET AWAY FROM LICENSE PROBLEMS. WE CAN USE THE LOGO AS ADVERTISEMENT. WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS THAT WAY. AS TO GET PERMISSION IM SURE YOU WILL HAVE TO SEND MANY LETTERS OR EMAILS TO GM TO BE ABLE TO USE IT. NOT TO METION THE PRICE YOULL HAVE TO PAY.

I guess that answers my question.

In the past, GM was aggressive on licensing products with their logos, such as the Chevy bowtie. I'd suggest contacting one of the many suppliers of reproduciton Chevy parts to see how they obtain licensing from GM for their products.
I recall years ago that Danchuck, a supplier of many repro parts for older Chevys, used to send a sticker with their catalog that was in the form of a 1955 Chevy hood emblem. Once GM started their licensing campaign, Danchuck modified the sticker so it was not an exact replica of the emblem, but was similar in color and of a slightly different shape. I speculate that the reason they made the change was to avoid bumping into issues with GM.
The issue does not seem insurmountable since there are so many repro parts on the market for all makes. Good luck.
