Hello Fanatics: Say I am trying to find a rotating carousel for a 1:18 diecast
ssr for showing under the hood etc. Anybody know where one might find such an item?! Appreciate your response!
My pleasure. Expect there may be a spinning in the engine compartment of your at Port Orchard
Yeah, I am pretty predictable!! Thanks again! I wonder who could or if any one could fabricate F&R spoilers to fit the 1:18 scale diecast that would really be cool! I guess a whittler of wood could do it,when I was a young lad all the old guys would sit on the porch in the evening and play with their special knife, boy some of my neighbors were really good at fliping and throwing the knife, they would play knife,a game how many times in a row you could stick the knife and there was a game where you had to throw the knife a certain way and stick it,then the next guy has to do the same, that was an old memory I hadn't thought of in decades, nice. Yeah many a older fellows were very good at carving things out of wood blocks, especially balsa wood, model cars and airplanes etc.Just keeping the ssr fun alive anyway I can!

After I paid for the carousel,I get a e-mail three days later saying they are on backorder for three to four weeks! I jumped too soon! I did want it for
the P/O Cruz, darn,oh well, next year now I guess, all out of events by the time it shows up,maybe it will give me time to get the diecast modified to look
like ours,sorta,no top,I haven't seen a 1:18 scale SSR (yellow) with a top,just
roadsters?! Later aligator! After while crocodile!
Too bad about the backorder, just glad I didn't vouch for the company.
Do what I did and get a Revell model and paint it to match. It was the only way I could get a model. Also can have the top up or down! It is a 2004, but only a fanatic could tell the difference.
Just as an aside, Diecast Direct is a very reputable company. Autoart, the maker of that turntable you found, has been out of them for many months. The DD site says the items is special order, though it might not have said that when you placed your order...
BUT, try here at www dot collectablediecast dot com, they show 2 sizes. I have dealt with them before without issue, you can even call them first to make sure they have what you need:

I cancelled my order with diecast direct and bought one from the diecast collectables,he had two left in stock, not the $29.99 but $18.99 he said was very good as far as the motor goes, that was my concern, the durability of the turntable itself! So I saved a coupe of bucks and I will have it tuesday of next week, plenty of time for the Port Orchard Cruz!
Well: I talked about whittling as a lost art form as a hobby etc. Well, today I called around to a few hobby shops and when I asked about if they knew anyone that worked with wood, you know like whittle? The guy was dumbfounded, like what's that, missed a few generations there I guess,so I got to thinking about my good neighbor, retired University professor, builds model airplanes, hmm,so I called him and explained my dilemma, how very cool, sure I think I can do something for you, well two hours later, after I supplied him with pictures of our ssr and the diecast,he had already carved and molded this balsa wood to a more than rough resemblance of our front & rear spoiler, said he will have it finished by the weekend for painting! How neat is that, clear out of the blue an idea presents itself, that my friends is a small but gracious miracle ,and we must always thank the source for such gifts, however large or small, our higher friends appreciate us acknowledging them for their work! Was the highlite of my day! Thought I would share it with you! Good evening!
Well my fanatic friends, what a tedious ordeal ,both my neighbor and myself have worked on these little tiny pieces of balsa wood for a week now, primer & sand primer &sand so as to get rid of the grain lines in the wood,I bought a preval aerosol spray bottle and had the local auto parts(napa) mix the proper
slingshot yellow paint, had to clear before painting, because it is urothane(sp) paint etc. I will post a few pics maybe tomorrow evening or Friday, displaying it on my new turn table,we did:F&R spoilers, and the running boards came out super, used pine derby carbon fiber decal for simulated rubber, looks pretty cool
gee, maybe I could of been a surgeon, working with such minute stuff, what's that honey? Oh hell you do it all the time when you go to the bathroom!! Gee thanks alot,I love you too! >>>>>>That's a joke folks>>>>. say goodnite Hal>>>.
Here's our mini me diecast of our ssr, couldn't get the minor detail, like black ss
on the back and yellow main spear and chevy emblem, would have messed it up trying to paint it so this is what we did,at least it's closer than just sticking the plain maisto up there etc! The running boards are popsicle sticks, the supports for the boards are half of a one inch clothes pin, painted black looks real,my wonderful neighbor Lou,did the whittling of the front & rear spoilers, very hard to do,not perfect but very good IMO. Also I just installed The three piece billet strips on the air filter cover, very nice Mike, finishes off the engine compartment for me and ties all the billet goodies together IMO!!
