400+ HP 5.3 in this months car craft

with just a cam change!!! They have a nice build up of the 5.3 , the cam looks a little too hairy for the automatic but some great info on the heads flw potential.

That article was indeed very well done. It is FULL of really useful informaiton, and well organized.

The authros WERE honest enough as well to point out that while they did run the engine to 6800 rpm successfully, they rally recommended both stronger pushrods and the ARP conencitng rod bolts. The pushrods are a known "bend" risk,and the biggest loads on the crank are NOT related to power, but rather pure inertia, and the connecting rod bolts are the weakest link.

The performance of the LM7 heads was incredible given their modest design parameters.

That article is must reading for anyone with an 03/04 SSR. BUT, remember, the SSR is a HEAVY vehicle, so that 6800 rpm cam is not the ticket for use in an SSR!

Greg Ducato had ound thata rticle, and knew I was looking at LS engines for "Red", so he drew my attention to it rigth away. That issue is on the newstands right now.
