addco sway bar installation?
I went to install my new addco sway bars on my 05, but I couldn't get the front one out. is there a special trick to it? Do I need to jack up the motor?
I just did the front sway bar installation yesterday. I was able to turn the wheels to the right to get the sway bar out of the front of the SSR. Be careful as you pull out the old one and insert the new one since there are a lot of things attached to the cross member near where you'll be pulling the sway bar through to get it out of and into the passenger's side.

I tried pulling it from the driver's side. Do I need to pull the right tire off or just turn the wheel? thanx!
As I recall I put mine in through the drivers side and pulled it out though the passenger side.
It is sort of like one of those puzzles made from bent nails that you have to pull apart. It only fits through one way and once you find it, you can't believe how easy it was.

Addco Installation
My ADDCO Sway Bars were installed yesterday by my friend - I did a great job locating and passing him the tools. We removed the front bar on the passenger side and installed the new one the same way. The rear bar was removed on the drivers side and after removing the passenger rear wheel we installed it from the drivers side. Having to use TORX tools threw us a curve and caused a bit of a delay but after discovering that little detail all went well.
Does anybody have any idea as to why the holes in the sway-bars are so much larger than the bolts that go through them ? If it wasn't Sunday I would have purchased some Self-Lubricating Bronze Bushings and slipped them in to take up some of the slop.
I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but the whole front-end feels tighter and more precise since the change over. I'm looking forward to some dry weather so I can profile the changes.

Chick, did you get the part number you ordered or were they substituted for another part number? I have been waiting for you to do your's before I order mine.

Hi Charlie:
The parts that I received were #2242-Front & #2243-Rear, the part numbers originally referenced for the TB & SSR. I'll have the SSR out and about tomorrow so I'll have an opportunity to do a test on dry roads. I don't expect that I'll be disappointed.

My husband put mine on several months ago and has to relube once and needs it again. Is this normal! otherwise it drives great !
Yes, it normal if you’re using the urethane mounts.
I’ve been told by our panel of experts that the ADDCO bars can use the OEM rubber mounts on both the front and rear bars. The rubber mounts does not have the squeak issue that the urethane does.

Really... 2 years and no squeaks with my Hotchkis and urethane bushings.
I KNOW I MUST BE MISSING THE BOAT BUT WHY PAY FOR THE SWAY BARS WHEN THEY R COVERED UNDER WARRANTY....MINE WAS REPLACED JUST RECENTLY BY MY DEALER FOR "NO CHARGE" --- MY MILEAGE WAS 31,000 ON MY 2005

Jim,
Best way I can explain it is for you to take a look at ADDCO web site, take notices of the comparison between stock sway bars and after market bars.

the difference in cornering is immense. the truck feels more stable even is slow city driving. In highway driving, the curved entrance ramps are fun now. I didn't think I needed them, but decided to go ahead and do them as I didn't like the rolling feeling that I got in a couple of big freeway entrance ramp curves. Those curves are really fun now. I'm glad I put them on. If you plan on doing any perfermance mods this is one of the cheapest that you can do and definately worth the $$$

I too was a bit skeptical of whether there would be a big difference. OMG What a difference.
I noticed (before) at the freeway on ramps around my home a moderate amount of body roll. After the change to the ADDCO bars, it seems nice and solid with very minimal amount of body roll. I also noticed a reduction in the general "floaty" (side-to-side) feel while driving on the wonderfully bumpy roads around where I live.
It just feels much "tighter" than before and I'm really enjoying the change.
