Another Magnaflow Setup

I took the SSR to Custom Exhaust in the next town to look at the SSR. This guy does all the custom cars and street rods around here. He also lives around the corner from me.

I told him I had the Magnaflow cat back system I purchased last year and wanted to get a price on having it installed.

I also asked about modifying the existing exhaust system by installing two mufflers in place of the stock muffler and cutting the head pipe back into two pipes feeding each muffler.

His recommendation was to replace the whole exhaust system using a new Magnaflow 2 pipes in and 2 pipes out muffler. The muffler is smaller than the stock muffler and he said it has the "x" pipe construction inside the muffler and is louder than stock. He has ordered several of these in different sizes and is using one on an Escalade. He also will install 4" tips. $450 -$500 complete.
He will call me when the Escalade is done so I can see and hear it.

I was just wondering if anyone had tried this setup?

Charlie,

Yes, I had it on my truck for about 8 months. I had my "Y" pipe split and brought two pipes straight back into a Magnaflow 14568 (Polished 22", dual in, dual out). I liked it a lot and it seemed to add some mid-range torque. The sound is really great and the cab resonance is only a little higher than stock.

That muffler is free to anyone who wants to stop by my house and pick it up, as I have replaced the entire system.

I am waiting to hear yours before I make the decision. I really don't want to do this every 2 months.

Hey if you like the sound you have why change at all, I race with some guy's and a friend of mine I beat with my SSR. has a 05 LS2 GTO and he had true duals and took the mufflers off and put a X pipe in something like you have and run the best et he had run and he likes the sound better, I have the FlowMaster kit built for the SSR and don't plan on changing that

Talking Wow

I met Olaf for lunch today and went for a ride in his Black SSR 6 speed.
OMG it was fantastic. The exhaust was loud but sounded great. It just sounds so mean stopped or moving.
Kooks headers and the cam made it sound great just sitting at idle.

My wish list has just gotten a little bit longer. Don are you listening?

Once the Prowler is sold I will be looking for a six speed.

Thanks Olaf, your going to cost me a lot of money.

Charlie
