I put the 4.56 gears inmy 05 SSR. Absolutely love the diffrent ratios too...BUT< my speedo is now way off. like 14 mph at 70. I checked it with the GPS and she only tachs 2200 rpms at 70...but the speedo is reading right at 85.
I have had her to two dealers...and both said they talked to GM, but GM wasnt really interested in "approving" the needed info for recaolobration. She has 65k miles...so there shouldnt be any warranty worries from the big GM company
So, does anyone know how to get this thing closer...or know any shop that may be able too.
I live in western NC.
PS. sorry if this was covered before, I just couldnt find it.
My SSR: "Rev'in Mr. Black" 1995 Impala SS - black with a 383 stroker motor
Not sure if there is a tuner in your area but Jeremy Formato is traveling from FL to Gettysburg PA fo a week of tuning in August if you PM him you might be able to arrainge to meet him on the way down. He is very proficient and can also find some more horsepower for you in addition to recalibrating your speedo.

Reason: accuracy
My SSR: 05 6 sp. with 4.56 gears, ZR1 clutch, Edelbrock intake, Lunati cam, Crane rockers, C6 modified pan
Brian Herter @ PCM4Less can definitely do the correction, either at his shop or by sending your PCM to him. He is located in Pittsburgh PA area. He got mine dead on, after my 4.56 swap, along with a decent performance tune.

There is also a PCM4Less in Mooresville, NC. While Bryan Herter mostly does the SSRs, I'm sure the guys in NC could probably help you out as well.
Have you called any of the GM dealers in Asheville? Did you install the 4.56 gears yourself?
I have called several dealers. I am not sure what Asheville said. I know the one in Forest city seemed pretty sure he could get it done over the phone...kept it 2 days and finally gave up. He said GM just didnt want to put out a program for it.. I really dont know what he is talking about...but I know he is the 3rd dealer who couldnt fix it. LOL
I actually have a local mechanic shop who keeps up my work trucks...and he said he had a "Rear-end guy" who could do it up right. I am very please too...no whine, roar or anything. And, seemed like it was only a 150. to do the swap too.
I am not exactly sure...but seems like I got all the parts and everything installed for around 700. (4.56 gears, gaskets, fluid, and a Flow masters installed too.)
I was very pleased... Very Pleased with the new gearing too! by far the best bang for the buck!

Might want to make them aware that the speedo correction is really an issue in the 05/06 SSRs. Bryan Herter is one of the few, in the country, that has it figured out for the six speed version. Possibly, the autos are more straight forward? Good Luck!

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely give him Brian's name. That way if he cant figure it out, he can take it out for me and send it to Brian. LOL
He said they had a Dyno at his shop too...I think I will go ahead and order me a K&N kit today and then maybe get them to tune it for me as well.
