I think that is wise. Too many issues already, prior to them even being in use!
I would really urge you to get:
- Sender that handles both vacuum and boost
- Gauge that handles both vacuum and boost. They exist. BUt, be sure to get one that is calibrated [properly with a DUAL display scheme: inches of mercury for vacuum, and psi boost for boost. Tis is VERY convenient for all sorts of diagnostics and testing.
Think too about how well the display fits with the interior of your SSR, and also usability ergonomics. I see you are favoring digital versus analog sweep. Note that the digital MUST be "dampened" by slowing down its rate of display change in order for it to be readable as your boost changes! That means a built-in delay (like a digitial speedometer has a delay that you really notice). You may also find that reaidng those digits undern "exciting conditions" is harder than you think, whereas the human eye and brain absorb relative sweep position very easily and quickly.
Pay lots of attention to the color of the display background AND digits. If they clash with, or are close enough to suggest tried-to-match-but-missed, your other instruments, you may be disapponted. One "blue" is not the same as another "blue", especially if a different lighting mechanism is being used.
Think long and hard about where you mount it. Soke places are easy to see even under exciting (high acceleration) conditions, or at night, while others are pretty tough. Also, some are easily reversible if you decide you picked the wring spot, while others leave permanent scars.
