Automatic Shifters

In playing around with the stock shifter in my auto 06. If you put shifter in 1st gear, rev engine out and try to shift to 2nd sometimes you hit second and sometimes it goes ahead and goes to 3rd. Needless to say if it goes to 3rd the vehicle falls on its face.
Is there a way to modify the stock shifter and have it gated or possibly a rachet type action so you do not have to be worrying about how its going to shift?

Is there a way to adapt an aftermarket shifter such as a B & M pro rachet shifter to the SSR, but keep the console in place? Possibly even keep the stock looking shifter but have rachet mechanisim hidden?

I really want to keep the classic SSR look with the stock console, etc. but the factory stock shifter just does not do the job.

Thanks for any ideas.

I don't know if you could or not, I have shifted mine and didn't have a problem other than I would hit the rev limiter a couple times in 1st., I found the best way for me was just set the tranny to shift at the rpm I wanted, Have mine set at 6500 rpms and just let the tranny shift it's self

Have your tried putting in the Corvette Servos? This completely stopped mine from doing that. Parts are less than $35.00.

See my post in this area on 4/24/07 regarding this. Sorry, I meant to include this in the previous message.

Thumbs up Maybe a half shift

SSR's have a "half shift". It's another shift point between the regular gears. I can't go into anymore depth than that..... It's about all I learned from this forum, all I need to know as well. Mine works like that and is as designed. These trucks are really cool
The upgraded servo from Greg Ducato will firm up those shifts.
Don't forget that if you pull the shift lever into second gear while rolling and come to a stop, you will pull out in second gear NOT first. It's a traction control feature.
Hope I helped out a little.....

I agree with Double L on this one and it is the way I have mine set up. There is no performance to be gained by manually shifting and if you miss a gear you actually loose performance. It also allows you to keep both hands on the wheel or at least free up your right hand for whatever other diversions you can think of.
